Has anyone had any experience with frame or axle sliders for the tubers? I'd like to get a set but they're tough to find. I did find a few but I don't know anyone who's actually used them. If anyone has anything to share, please let me know. Thanks. http://www.oncycles.com/catalog.asp?r=1&pn=CDP0017 1 http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/Sato_Axle_Slid er_Black_Buell_X1--622819.html |

Man, where do these companies get off charging that kind of money for this stuff? The Sato sliders (of dubious value...look where they're placed)are $55 for about 83 cents worth of product. The LSLs at $130? And again, their placement makes them likely to spin on the frame tube (or at least bend the crap out of it in the event of a crash) which seems like a lot of wasted money for little protection. I dunno, but I smell a scam in the works. DW |

I have seen the LSL ones b4 but didn't think they would hold up. Kind of looks like it would just twist on the frame tube. As for front axle ones I have the Pegasus axle covers and don't want to replace them with sliders. Last year I dropped my X1 in the garage. (On the left side) The areas that hit was the clutch toe peg, bottom left side of the chin spoiler and left barend. I'm not sure if the front axle would hit the ground in a lowside. I really want something to protect the header like the LSL slider. |

I agree; I wasn't impressed with the quality or value of either item. They were just the only ones I could find with a quick search. I like the protection supposedly offered by the LSL and that's what I'd be more interested in, but $110 is a lot of money. Plus, it looks like that price is for just the mounting kit. The actual slider pads cost another $57! Ughhh. |

I assume you have the ones that are $185. You really can't tell from the photos on the site but it looks like they attach in the same manner as the LSL sliders. (Message edited by mudshuvel319 on April 30, 2009) |

They are the LSL sliders. Click on the "larger pic" link on their web site. If Al sells it, then it works. I have never bought anything that was sub par from American Sport Bike. |

You're right. I didn't realize it because it doesn't actually give the brand name on the page, just in the picture. I wish I knew someone who had used them. |

"...The areas that hit was the clutch toe peg..." I assume you meant to say gear shift toe peg...right? I also gently "laid down" the bike in my garage once and the only damage was a scratch on the plastic air box cover, slightly bent brake lever and broke off my rear turn signal. I was so happy I held off getting the Forcewinder (or building an Ecowinder). It would have been sheared right off... Neither the rear nor front axles touched the ground. |
