Just got a big package in the mail today, had been waiting very impatiently for it to arrive. Oh hell yea, they are here! All 304 Stainless, beautiful system. Will the gold up in color if i just slap them on and run them? Or do they need to be coated? (Message edited by guell on April 27, 2009) |

should gold up ok without doing anything to them. would be better if you got a consistent finish first, either by polishing or scuffing with a scotchbrite to get a uniform looking finish, then when they gold up, they will be uniform. or just run 'em raw!!! look good. haven't seen any kooks in years. |

I love the patina of heated stainless. My friend polished his headers but i still like the dull heated stainless color better. |

I knew of someone with a set for the old style frames, and Matt wanted them so I hooked the two together. You're welcome again! |

I contacted Kooks a while back about some information for mine, and they still had several available, they are not listed on their website anymore if I remember correctly. |

TIJ - They stop making them a few years back. But you can always give them a call to see if they will make you a custom set if they still have the jigs. http://kookscustomheaders.com/ |

I just got off the phone with Kooks and they will be emailing me with the numbers of how many they have left and I will let you know. Got my name on a set of under the frame headers, as Guell and I found out they had some at the same time. =) |

I would coat them I too like raw but the 304SS will eventualy "rust" and that is too nice to allow it to rot.. I wish that they could come out with a metalic high temp coating that was gold, like the heat treated ss on the buell pipes |

Jim, How long should it take for them to "rust"? Ive been reading up on 304 and it seems if i keep them clean, they ought to hold up for a while. I want to wait until winter when i have the engine torn down to do upgrades to get them ceramic coated. |

Matt: depending on temps and environment it may be just fine you can polish it off the coater will want to clean the pipe, coating it inside and out will make it last longer. |

Sounds amazing over the phone anyways. Damn, I thought the D&D was loud, but damn. Sounds friggin awesome...though I think you'll lose some bottom end with how loud it is. Get that thing tuned again. Oh, and it's a shame it doesn't fit right up. I'd |
