I just called the hotel to make my reservation and they have about 10 rooms left that I had blocked off. The cutoff to get the blocked rooms is 15 May however if you know you are coming I do not recommend waiting that long.

I will be going up to scout for a suitable meeting place/restaurant. This might pose a problem for this little town but I will find something.

Bart, send Gowindward a PM and he can give you the status.

After reading about your white S2 and the stage two 1250 kit I am thinking of doing the same thing. I developed a leak from the rear base gasket and was going to pull it to replace it and I started thinking about the 1250 kit. I hate when I do that. I better call NRHS.

NRHS does some wonderful work.
Unfortunately for me, I had Santa Fe HD do the initial installation and that's where the engine, and my friendship with Murrae went out the door.
Aaron, took it upon himself to fix all the issues with the original install, and the engine has been bulletproof ever since.
I've now got about 22,000 trouble free miles on the stage 2, 1250 kit.
You can't go wrong when dealing with Dan, he's a stand up guy, and NRHS certainly stands behind their work, 110%
My S2 put down 104 RWHP on their dyno with the forcewinder and V&H exhaust.
I'll let you take it for a spin in June and perhaps that will help you decide.

Bart, I was thinking of doing that until today! I got the S1W running great and took her out for a spin. I do not bounce it off the rev limiter anymore but do keep it around 4500 to 5000 rpm. 3rd gear started slipping. I do not think it is the clutch and might be dogs or detent plate. I need to pull the primary and see what is going on.

The S2 will have to wait but I did talk to Dan at NRHS. I never intended to keep the 95 S2 but it is growing on me. I am going to put S2T bars on it and lower the pegs.

Work is getting bad and it is not uncommon for me to do 12 hour days. My burn rate is almost 200 hours over and more importantly it is taking up time from working on the bikes. Yesterday I worked 11 hours for the customer and did 5 hours of proposal work for the company. All this and I still have no job come Oct.

Hurry up Oct... I need a break.

I have already informed everyone that I will be gone most of June. Besides the Gathering there is Homecoming and a trip to Santa Fe on the company dime all in June.

39 Days

I do not know about you all but I am getting excited, nervous and more excited.

I will be attending several other events before this one to include Homecoming but I am really focus on this one. The first S2 Rally! I hope Eric and Roger have their bikes done on time and are able to join us. I told Rex when we first started to plan this event that my idea of success is at least six S2s showing up. I know it will grow over the years but that first one is always special and I think we will have more than six S2s in the parking lot along with many other models of Buells.

The 25th Anniversary of Buell, the first book about Buell, a Buell winning races and the first Buell S2 rally all within a years time. These are going to be great times ahead for Buell and I for one am glad to be a part of it.

See you all in 39 DAYS!

I just reserved my room. Really looking forward to this. My S2 has been in storage for a couple of years. I just picked up a new battery and got the DMV taken care of.
This is going to be great. How many are coming??

Jack, if I do not have your email please pm it to me and I will send you some info. As far as how many are coming I have no idea. HCHD will have some demo bikes on Friday and I imagine a few locals will show up.

I think on the mailing list I have about 10 to 15 people so far. I am using that number to make dinner arrangements.

I look forward to seeing you Jack,

Frank

Reservations made. T-Shirts ordered. I was hoping to gun for the Iron Butt trophy but old age and a complete lack of any seat time this year so far means that I'll be trailering to San Francisco and riding riding from there. I've got a few different possibilities for parking the car and trailer there but I might as well ask if anyone has a big estate that could accommodate the surplus wheels for a week?
Also, I was wondering if anyone else is bringing their significant other or will I be the only one riding two up?

Good question Eric. That would be very helpful to know for the restaurant.

Lynn will be with me starting on Friday, I will be there Thursday just to get a lay of the land.

Thanks for the feedback, Loren and Frank. The missus was wondering if it was likely to be a boys-day-out thing. Not that that would stop her coming along!
So I'm ranging far from home, unlikely to pass that way again for a goodly time. The Grand Canyon is, I think, a must see. So here's the rough plan. Any locals care to comment? Am I missing some great twisties? Heading for gravel roads? Plain crazy? Too needy?
Out of San Fran east through Manteca Hwy 120, past Chinese Camp, east at Moccassin continuing on Hwy 120 to Yosemite. Question: Is there anything at the town worth stopping for or should we just take the pass through the park?
South at Lee Vining on Interstate 395. East at Lone Pine on Hwy 136, which becomes 190 through Death Valley. Question: Is riding through Death Valley in June a good idea?South at Death Valley Junction on 127(?) to Shoshone then northeast to Pahrump, south east on 160 to skirt Las Vegas. Northeast out of Vegas on Interstate 15 to St George, Utah. Southeast on 59 and 389, then 89 to Jacob Lake. Then south on 67 to the Grand Canyon. East on 160 from Tuba City to Towaoc, Cortez, Durango, Pagosa Springs, Monte Vista, Saguache, Salida, Cripple Creek, and we're there.
Ideally, that's three days.
Comments?

Eric, I believe Lynn will be riding with us as she rides her own bike. Some other American brand of bike, not Buell.

Your route sounds interesting. Cortez is one of the places on my list to visit. Durango, Pagosa Springs are nice places. Lynn visits Pagosa Springs every year to ski and hang out in the natural hot springs.

The only part that I question is going from Salida to Cripple Creek and Buena Vista. Cripple Creek will be a ways out of your way. However, it is a nice ride either on highway 24 or the back way through Guffy.

If you run into any problems give me a call. I have my cell phone number in the booklet I sent you and the others that are coming.

I really hope this is a good time. Lynn is working her schedule so she may end up coming up Friday later in the day.

Well, Eric..I'm just a little jealous. Our route is...well get on I-70 blah, blah, rinse repeat.....Until we get to Limon, CO then head south on US-24.

It will be a good time.

Loren, what day are you planning on coming out? Do not stay in Limon if you stop over night. That town is a typical highway truck stop town with the crime to go with it.

I am heading to Buena Vista on Thursday. For you an anyone else coming from a great distance wants to use the house as a rest stop you are welcome to do that but just be prepared to head out on Thursday.

Frank

I am imagining all the S2s from different areas converging in one place at one time.
Cool!

Frank, our plan is to leave Wednesday and make a leisurely trip to Goodland and spend the night there. Thursday will be a easy trip to Cannon City, and taking in the sites there and spending the night. Friday morning we will head over to Buena Vista. Pretty tough schedule...I know. LOL Hey it's vacation so we decided to take our time getting out there.

If it was just me I'd knock it out in a day, (a little over 700 miles) but with having a passenger that I would like to still like me at the end of the trip, I'm going to pace it a little.

Ok Loren, sounds like you have a good plan. One of our fellow Colorado Buell Riders and my good friend (J2Blue) lives down in Canon City and rides a yellow XB9S.

I will most likely take 50 and go through Canon City on the way to Buena Vista so when the time gets closer keep me informed. Depending on the time you come through Colorado Springs I may be able to ride with you and show you a way that will avoid Colorado Springs (and traffic) altogether.
