Sup guys n gals just picked up a 2005 firebolt xb12r with 10k miles on it, to which I promptly added another 1.3 k. After about 1k miles my firebolt begin to whine. The whine is high pitched and seems to be constant regardless of RPM's. I am relatively motorcycle illiterate and appreciate any suggestions

First thought would be the primary chain adjustment. But that would change as the RPM's varied.
Try propping the rear wheel off the ground, and carefully inspect the final drive belt, sprockets, and idler pulley. Turn the wheel by hand, and see if you can locate a problem. Something rubbing the belt? Wheel bearings? |

Does the whine sound like the fuel pump noise when turning on the key during start up or is it higher pitched?
Does it make the whine when the bike is not moving? |

i too would head strait for the primary. it is usually caused by a tight primary chain. however primary chains don't just tighten up on their own they get looser. i'd still check the tension on it though. crazy things happen. i would have to go with sparky on this. i would probably go in the direction that sparky is. if it isn't the fuel pump and whine is present while not moving then it is probably in the crankcase. |

2005 xb12r Firebolt-Engine whine and clunky at 2500-3000 rpms in 1st and 2nd gear...Tell me where it hurts
