find me another bike that resemble mine, please... No one said your bike isn't unique, it is. However, just because it's got a unique paint job, and fancy aftermarket parts, doesn't mean it's priceless, or even worth more than a new stock XB. A bike is only worth what someone will pay for it. If this were not the case, there would be a lot of rich motorcycle customizers making millions of dollars. Edoardo, forget what people think your bike is worth. It does the soul good to get out and ride. You've got two bad ass bikes, go ride one. |

The_italian_job, you seriously need to check your ego at the door a bit. You asked for opinions. And that is exactly what you got. Don't expect others to coddle your ego. I don't see Dana's comments as Jealousy whatsoever. You have a fine looking bike. But the way I see it, there really see much difference between your bike, and Danas. A Fancy paint job, and some bolt-ons. Save for the paint job, there isn't any more "custom" than say my bike, and FAR less than there is in Diabobrian's 1st XB12. Which was the 1st XB12, before there WAS an XB12. Built by Hals. The 1st full fairing XB, and a lot of other tweaks that you can't really see. For me, I value functionality over aesthetics. I can respect the work that goes in to show bikes, But I personally don't have any use for 'em. |

I wonder if the boys over at OCC would be as hot under the collar if they asked, and got our opinions on their monstrosities. I mean really, would you pay +$50,000 for this? If I had $50K to spend on a bike, you could bet your last buck it wouldn't be anything near that, or any other "chopper". See what I mean? It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. |

Frankly the OCC bikes that I've seen up close were not as nice as I was expecting. These were a couple of bikes that were done for Airgas. I have no idea if these bikes are representative of their normal work, but they were not perfect show pieces. My guess is that they were all too aware of the flaws when the bikes went out, but business have deadlines to meet. It's likely that the execs at Airgas that paid for the bikes to be done have never noticed what I saw. |

Iamarchangel, you definitely have the same IQ of the guy that offered me $8000 for a bike which bid is already $11.600!!! I go around looking for people like you and the other guy to have fun. oh, wait! maybe that email was just yours.... You don't know me and you don't know respect. If you read my posts, you should see that I was siding with you as an artist. Whatever your problem is, go for a ride. I'm done with this thread. |

So back to the Ghost bike... It's tough to really see the quality in photos especially in the quality that can be posted here so a lot gets hidden. Also the photographer gets to choose the viewing angle. I do remember this photo from a previous thread though. The areas that are circled show quite a bit of orange peal in the paint on the frame. Not my idea of show quality, especially considering the prominence of this area of the frame on these bikes.
I realize that this almost certainly powder coating, but are we talking top show bikes, or real nice street bikes where durability becomes important? I don't mean to be harsh, but this kind of quality affects the price. I have no way of knowing what else may be hidden by the camera, but if I'm paying big bucks I'm expecting close to flawless workmanship in every detail. The frame at least misses the mark in a big way. Is it possible to find a buyer with a fat wallet and a bad eye? You bet. If you find him take his money. |

"Whatever your problem is, go for a ride. " He can't, it's a show bike. TIJ, you're too easily offended. Put up or shut up- put your bike on eBay for us all to see and laugh, or stop posting in this thread. |

and let me say the last thing: this is my last post in this forum, I was personally offended and generally when I posted that picture of the bike with the Italian flag underneath, somebody found a way to offend me and extend the issue to my country, just because that guy put his flag by his bike, which he put it just because he was the only italian bike out of 3 that participate at the italian build off show. period. you guys went way too far. .......... 3 more posts since that. |

The only "custom" buell I've seen that I would expect, if sold, would earn a profit; It was built by Joesbuell. And I have no idea what it cost because I don't think he ever said or hinted. I do know that it took a TON of work, creativity, and intelligence, because not only does it look good, it rides and handles better than ever. Notice that there aren't any expensive catalog billet parts or over-the-top paint. The biggest cost on this bike is the hours of work it took. It's clean, functional, but yet completely one of a kind. |

Now that's a pretty bike. Not over done (not saying anybody else's is--I know how sensitive some people can be) clean and simple. |

Sifo, what you circled is just the reflection of a candy color powder coating over the natural curvature of the frame. I had a piece done 3 times because the shade wasn't exactly the same of the rest, that's because when you go on the stage on a show, the judges take a close look at everything. each judge stand and inspected the bikes for almost 20 minutes, you can be sure I wasn't gonna get 1st place if those were imperfections! for instance, this guy with his bike got 3rd place, and he has much more of "fabrication" (as you guys like so much to say!) than anyone else in our category... and this got 2nd, which is all bolt ons as well, beside the tail section... I remember one guy that told me shortly after the show, that he met at a local bike night, one of the judges who judged my bike and they were talking about it. the judge told him that my bike was possibly the nicest bike ever presented in that class. not my words and not to say that my bike is the best in the world, but this is just to say that it became too easy for all of you to shoot on me in this thread! I felt offended when somebody said that my bike worths 10 grand and I still say so, that bike can not worth that money with all that was done on it! unfortunately nobody saw my bike in person to really appreciate the show quality of everything that was done on this bike: believe me, it's details in every inch. aftermarket parts? probably. is there a crime? aftermarket costs and you guys know very well. I love Joesbuell's bike, I requested him to send me one of that magazines for that reason. it's a wonderful bike and it shows all his skills on bike builder, but if you put that bike in a show, it is not appreciated as it is from us. because it is not overdone, when show bike are suppose to be. now throw shit on what I've said now too, it seems it is you favorite things to do lately... |

Sifo, what you circled is just the reflection of a candy color powder coating over the natural curvature of the frame. It's the reflection that allows you to see the orange peal. Note the difference in how that same reflection looks on the airbox. Nice sharp definition of the reflection, not the orange pealy reflection that the frame has. The frame has orange peal. The photo does not lie. |

Now that we've seen pics of the 2nd and 3rd place bikes let me just say that I have a garage full of trophies that says I know a thing or two about the show scene. Being a former president of a local car/truck/bike club I found that the hardest thing for people to realize is that a trophy is nothing but a cheap ass piece of plastic, and that who wins and who "loses" is all based on one persons preference: the judge. I've seen so many people get upset because they lost at a show and I tried to explain to them that if they are happy with their ride no matter what it is then they are the winners, not the person that spent a lot of money just to try and make one person like what they've done. If you are going to customize something it should be done for one person, yourself. Winning first place doesn't mean your bike is better than all others competing, it just means ONE person liked it better. There's a lot of people out there that don't realize that shows are all about the judge's preference. All show vehicles are not supposed to be over done even though some of them are. I believe this translates to the bike scene as well. Tasteful is key from what I've seen in the past and my personal opinion. I think for most people there's a fine line between just right and too much. Once you cross that line it goes from tasteful to tacky. |

What was the class the Ghost was in that they put a stretched old school GSXR and a chopper with your buell??? I thought you said it was a Street fighter class. Sorry but the two bikes shown above are not street fighters. |
