I have been off and on since 1987. Now days the only part I enjoy is riding through Spearfish Canyon. My best trip to Sturgis ended up being 3 days in the Rockies. Never made it to SD that year. |

I have been going fo the last few years. I hit the tail end of it, less people. I just like to ride. I skip the the big shows and don't party much. The crowd gets to be a bit much for me. great part of the country. |

Nope, the dirty lil secret about working in the motorcycle business on the west coast.... You never get to do any of the big motorcycle events cuz its the selling season. Last time I was in Sturgis, it was October 2005. Before I had the Buell |

Badbuell, check the BRAN and Storm Fronts for folks in that area. Should be some to ride with, or suggest roads/places to go. |

Whenever I have two wheels, I just plan to go. +1 on Spearfish Canyon--it can be 105 outside the valley, but you can have frost on the road as you roll thru. Only other place for riding similar I've ever seen is the south end of the PCH or US19/US129 from Dahlonega thru the Dragon. My favorite attraction is the short lines on the demo fleet and the twisties on Skyline Drive in Rapid City. And if you don't like the crowds, it's a wide-open area with a lot of good highways. Sorry, getting a little wound up, time for a ride... |

I drove up there one year when my son was about 7 years old (he's 20 now). We had the trip planned but I didn't realize it was Sturgis week until I tried making reservations for a motel room. It was quite expensive for a single mom at that time, so we camped out in a field with hundreds of bikers. While in the town of Sturgis, my son pointed to a girl that had a "bruise" on her butt. I then told my son it was not a bruise, it was a tattoo. Very interesting experience. The people were great. Wouldn't do it again but that is a beautiful part of the country. Would like to ride in the area next time. |

Passing though MT, I ended up late one night at a nasty dive motel (really bad) for the princely sum of $120 upfront... I did have a polite hooker out front my door. |
