New bar ends are done. Here is a bit of a comparison. Sorry about the pics, my camera is old, and was cheap when we bought it so it is atrocious!

Original "bar ends" weigh 4 grams a side.

New bar ends turned up by a friend out of bisalloy (IIRC) the powdercoated satin black weigh 670 grams a side.

Much better! Here they are on the bike (taken without flash). Pretty crap pic this one, the camera hates low light.

Here is a pic with flash showing off my rim stripes.

Haven't had a chance to ride with them in yet, so looking forward to trying them out. Might have to go for a blast tomorrow or sunday to get out on the highway for a while and see how they go.

So.....you're advocating ADDING weight to the bike?

I prefer Unobtanium over Bisalloy

Hit an anvil with a ball-peen hammer(solid bar-end) - it bounces.
Hit the same anvil with a dead-blow - NO bounce(by definition).

I added 130 gms of #8 bird-shot(bagged) to each bar - no buzz at highway speeds.

I am using it to lower the resonance frequency of the bars so hell yes I am adding weight to it.

I couldn't get unobtanium, so I though bis would do : D

Unobtainium is so 80's...once rare...easily available today...unrealmium, used to make suspension parts and wheels results in "Wow...the way that thing handles is unreal" (a very hush hush material used in F-22's and Buells); )....and finally...unknownmium....microscopic particles that hover around areas where bikes are ridden hard...when the engine ingests a particle you get "I don't know why, but I was haulin butt faster than ever"....1125's come with an unrealmium attractor built in. ; )

I prefer Balonium; it's benefits are unreal....just like it's existence.

anakist, wanna send those stock bar ends to me? My Canyon Dancers with the plastic caps damage the grip and throttle tube with no bar ends (i take my Dark Horse Moto bar ends out as the canyon dancers fit better without them on.)

Haven't had a good go at it, but it seems much more comfortable at city speeds. Well worth doing even so far.

And Ducxl: You will be happy to know, the extra 1340 grams makes no difference to it's ability to do legal speeds. Just in case you were wondering if it could be a problem.

Fresno: I would do it, but I am in Australia. Probably worth more in postage than to buy new ones from a dealer over there.

Look into a product called "Super Bike Strap". They do the same thing as a Canyon Dancer but in a different way. I switched over to them in my trailer for the bikes I haul to the events. MUCH BETTER than Canyon Dancers.

Hey Puzzled, so one of the links says that the superbike sling doesn't put any pressure on the grips? That true? If so, that's perfect as even the original Canyon Dancers could deform grips with all that tension.

"Another solution to transport road bikes without damaging fairings or
paintwork. This simple sling utilizes two soft loop tie downs
(not included) to route through the super bike sling over the
handlebars of any road or off-road bike. It can be adjusted to
any width handlebar via the cam buckle adjustment. Unlike the
“Total Package Tie Downs” which work on a concertina effect on
the handlebar, the Super Bike Sling is a static device, which puts
no pressure on grips, switch blocks or cables when operational."

Harlan - your local HD shop should have those - they are available, same design as the Gorilla straps or you can get the "soft-strap" loops to use with your current tie-downs.
They wrap around the bottom tree or handlebars, not the bar end.

We use those at the shop and when trailering.

Hmmm. Seems to me that the pods get in the way of mounting anywhere but the grips? Maybe I am missing something here, but the verbiage about the Sling says that it's a "static" device that puts no pressure on the grips among other things. Looks to me like it has to pull down on the grips (like the Canyon Dancers,) so how is there no pressure?

The sling goes around the grip. There is a strap that ties both side together. This strap is adjustable to allow for various widths (ideal for wide Busa's or bikes where the bars are close to the fairing). Your ratchet straps attach to the loops on the grips. The design keeps the grips from moving and the straps from bunching up against the switches. They take a little while to figure out however once you get it they work very well.

I'll see if I have any pics of the bike strapped in the trailer.

The blue bike has one on it.

I am getting a set or two of these Slings. You sound sold on them. I was going to go back to the old Canyon Dancers (with the nylon straps on the grips), but i'll give these Slings a shot. Thanks everyone for the input.
