I move my bike out in the driveway to wash it and i put the kickstand down and turn to get the bucket of water. Then i hear a thunk. I look back and the bike is laying on its side. I pick it up only to discover that the spring is missing off the kickstand. The spring was laying on the garage floor where the bike was originally parked. The cover on the side of the bike split right in half and is leaking oil all over the place. And the pod has a tiny scuff. I read someone else on here had the same problem last year. Would you think this would be covered under warranty? If not how much is this dam thing going to cost me. |

Damn that sucks, there was a recall out there for the kick stand spring (i believe), if the dealership was negligent in getting that recall done in some way then you might have a case. |

That sucks!! I had something similar happen, but did not do any major damage like you have described. What saved me was the axle sliders and bar end sliders. I hope they are able to fix it under warranty, since it is a known problem and only occurred because the part failed. Mike |

How long has the sidestand recall be available to the consumer? I wish you luck, but the recall has been available to you for months. Buell is pretty lenient, but I wouldn't blame them for not covering this one. |

If there was a recall it would have been nice if they told me about it. The only recall i have ever received was for a reflash. My wife is extremely organized and keeps ALL Paperwork received. |

It actually wasn't a "Recall" but a "Product Program." I don't know all the details about the difference, but a product program seems voluntary from the manufacturer and doesn't require official notification like a recall. That's probably why you didn't get anything in the mail. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/402253.html |

That's f ed up. So they should jus let the owners that don't use a forum find out the hard way when there front brake suddenly doesn't work. |

Just FYI, the stator cover and puck/plug and gasket are around $190, or at least another board member that had to replace them said they were http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/425156.html Mike |

Rockstar, I believe the front brake is a recall. I think Fresno was talking about the kickstand. |

I was referring to the kickstand as Daggar suggested. |

The kick stand, oil dip stick and breather were all a part of the same program. BMC did notify me by mail to get it done. You usually hear about things a few weeks a head on Badweb. Sorry to see that happen Mister. (Message edited by unibear12r on April 23, 2009) |

Front brake recall is to move the brake line to keep it from wearing against the fender or tire. You should check that area of your brake line. I don't think the recall has offically started yet(?). (Message edited by unibear12r on April 23, 2009) |

The springs on the 08 kickstands were just crap. I went through 3 or 4 kickstands in a couple of months period, to the point that on 2 different trips I rode with my kickstand zip-tied up and would rest the bike against the crash pillers guarding the fuel pumps at stops! They fixed it so far as I can tell with this latest kickstand. Instead of the springs windings terminating in a hook, the hooks for the spring are different material and are "floating" inside of a different spring. It's a much better design. As for the front brake line... I noticed that a long time ago and rerouted. Mine rubbed through the liner, but not into the steel braid, so I didn't worry about it. No issues 30,000 miles later. |

My bike did a similar thing. I went down on a trip to TN/NC and my friend tells me my kickstand was flopping down the skyways. I heard there was a recall on the way and installed a spring that constantly kept it in the up position so I could still ride. To park the bike I had to reach down with my left hand and place the kickstand down and lean over. Well, it only took once for me to not pull this off correctly and I dumped it on the left side. The bike was scratched on the left pod, and the left clutch cover. Axle sliders saved further damage. I took it in and asked if Buell would cover it and they said 'maybe'. I haven't pressed the issue, but I still haven't heard a word back. This was like 6 weeks after I went into the dealership to get the kickstand recall done mind you. Everytime I checked in they said they didn't have the parts for it yet. I'm just thankful I don't have the leaking oil problem. I feel they should fix my problem as well as yours, but your problem is much more serious due to the leak. |

Good luck with the brake line recall, by the time HD/Buell announce it in the UK another 3 months will have gone by ( if it's anything like the gearbox recall ), unfortunately somebody could have died by then ... Life is cheap in the UK ! And as for the "product program" stand spring, vent line etc, if it wasn't on BadWeb we know nothing about it - we have to chase our dealers to get it done - so keep publicizing everything ! |

What's up with the UK dealers? I stopped by Warr's in Fulham between Christmas and New Years and had a long chat with the sales man. He seemed really knowledgeable about the ins and outs of Buell in general and 1125R specifically. I didn't talk to anyone in service. That could be another saga I guess. But there was detail resident knowledge in that store. |

Same as in the US, there are good and bad dealers. As for the recalls, it's probably down to good old fashioned bureaucracy ... |
