So I just got my 08 back from the shop because it spit a drive belt. I went for a 40 mile ride and while heading home I began hearing some nasty crunching type noises. I get home and notice the outer cover on the right rear bearing is gone and I can see the bearings.... GGGGrrrrrrr Oh well, back to the dealer as it is still under warranty. I have nothing but love for my bike and chalk it up to doo-doo happens!! |

Doo Doo or did they tighten the axle too damn much, I know your dealer is great but shit can happen. Glad to hear you caught that before it caught you. |

Why are orange ones recalled or something? |

No recall, but they recently came out with updated bearings with black seals that are supposed to be improved over the previous bearings. Quite a few Ulys have eaten rear wheel bearings; check the "Big, Bad, & Dirty" forum for many threads on the subject. |

It's still under warranty and was dropped off at the shop this morning. It should be done already, but I won't be able to get it til Monday. The only bike I have running right now is the race bike. The 98 has a broken header pipe. |

I'd lost both front and rear at 24,000 km on my Firebolt after only 1 year, and Buell wouldn't replace them under warranty. I don't do any off road. Only about 20km on dirt roads. No high pressure hosing, and only dealer service. My first Laverda did over 100,000 km and had the original wheel bearings still fine when I sold it. I've never had any other bike wear out the wheel bearings. |

I just had all 4 replaced on my Ss. Took the wheels off for a tire change and found that I couldn't turn the rears by hand. About 25 K miles of commuting. |

Seen an exposed bearing with integral seals, like on XBs, on another motorcycle's wheel? <snip@edit> Geez, I feel old. Apparently, Buell's wheel bearing application isn't unique, only modern. : ) '04 SV650(Krista's new-to-our-garage bike)has same wheel-bearing-hub appearance & exposure as my '04 XB.
