I don't know if this is a particularly good price, but compared to American Sportbike, it's really cheap so I thought I'd share... I just placed my order and I can't wait! Who else has that pipe in here? I read the exhaust shootout on AS' website and the Jardine pipe doesn't look to be the best by any means, but I heard it sounded great and I don't care for 1 or 2 HP more or less, so I went for it! I will eventually send my stock pipe to Special Ops to get it chopped so I'll be able to compare both pipes before I get rid of one of them... Anyway, that's it |

Damn Drummer pimps, always thread jacking... To answer the question you asked and the pimps didn't answer...I do not have a Jardine either! I have the race pipe, but I have a buddy with the Jardine and it is LOUD. Much louder than the race pipe, but it sounds good as long as loud is your goal! The other piece of the puzzle that gets me it the aesthetics- I think the factory pipes fill the space down there better, and in my opinion look better (as would a Drummer or Spec Ops pipe). Post up some pics and your impressions of the pipe once you get it! |

I did demo a bike from the dealer that had a Jardine, at first it was great at idle and in town but when I got on the highway riding by the concrete wall that separate the two sides my ears started to hurt so from there I decide on not getting a Jardine because for me it's too loud, sound very good but painful loud. Also I heard many stories of having to repack it at least once a year. |

Thanks guys! I will post up about the Jardine shortly after I get it... I want a more aggressive sound, and a bit louder than stock would be perfect, but it sounds (no pun intended) like that pipe is VERY loud, so I just ordered the "quiet insert" from American Sportbikes for $35 and got the black header wrapping tape too while I was there As I said, I will have my stock pipe reworked by either Kevin (drummer) or Michael (special ops) as well, so I'll be able to check both and make a decision on which one I want to keep. Has anyone heard both the drummer and special ops pipe in person? Which one sounds best? (Message edited by wavex on April 21, 2009) |

Only thing I heard about the Jardine I wasnt happy with was that it had less low end power... Now my bike with the drummer (similar to stock) doesnt really REALLY get moving till your over 4,500rpm anyways so maybe thats not a problem, I like to rev it up. Hit the rev limiter in 1st gear for the first time today while riding . Anyways, cant describe the Jardine but the drummer is a good amount of sound. Its quiter then my fathers Road King with RhineHeart racing pipes. At idle its a lot louder then stock, you notice it. With the crack of a throttle it sounds a lot like a harley, as it does with light throttle rolling and rev's around 3,000rpm. Get on it hard (near WOT) and get the rev's up and its hard to describe, almost like a V4. It just sounds MEAN... |

Yeah while I agree with you that the dyno charts show slight differences between aftermarket pipes, I have a hard time believing ppl who tell me they can "feel" the differences... I mean 2-5 HP more or less for any given rpm is really not noticeable using a butt dyno imho... it's <5% of a difference so I really could care less about that... I know I can pick up A LOT of speed by working on my skills, not by changing the pipe. Anyway, header wraps and quiet insert will be here today (American Sportbikes is FAST!), but it looks like I'll have to wait til next week for the pipe |

My xb12 came with the CF jardine on it. It sounds great. It was a little loud at first but Ive gotten used to it. If I had to change the tune I would hope for a deeper tone. I wonder if there are any chambered muffler designs out there like the flowmaster? I feel like this design in a full sized factory shell would produce low bassy tones. |

Not sure where I saw it but the difference I saw for stock/drummer vs. jardine showed SIGNIFICANT difference in torque and HP in the lower RPM spectrum, almost like at 3,XXX RPM it spiked back up and then was nice. It was not a 2hp difference. And I think 5hp would be noticable. |

I couldn't find a Jardine vs Drummer plot, but these two will give you an idea... OK, if you think you could ride a bike and notice these differences for any given RPM using your butt dyno, than that's great, all the power to you (no pun intended lol)... I know I couldn't and wouldn't care about it anyway... All I know is that the bike is plenty fast enough for me in the twisties... the fact that it's a bit faster in certain rpm ranges and a bit slower in others is completely irrelevant on the streets imho... now on my track bike it's a different story, but that's because I am trying to shave seconds on the track, that's all. Wavex I think you could feel the more linear power on the lets say drummer compare to race one. |

Yes, that's a good point Linear or not, I cant wait to put that pipe on and ride the hell out of it! I think I am going to try it without the "quiet insert" first... is it a pain to add it later? |

Sure... I will do 3 videos: - stock - Jardine - Jardine + insert The last one may have to wait though as I may just like the sound without the insert... we'll see how it goes... |

OK so I started working on the bike last night, but I have a question about the removal of the stock muffler: there's an oil line I need to disconnect in order to remove the rear mounting bracket... I assume I have to disconnect it on the engine side right? And is there a trick to avoid the oil pouring out of there? Great looking bike! Scg yeah? And as to the valve cable, you leave the electrical but the mechanical is completly removed from the air box down to the stock exhaust. |

I have a friend with a Jardine on his 07scg and I love the way it sounds. His only complaint was that it needed repacked after only 3500 miles. We wrapped the center core with stainless steel wool and then packed the rest with a product called super wool. He now has 2500 more miles on it and in my opinion it sounds better than it did when brand new. Deeper and quieter and should never have to be repacked again. |

For the price it's hard to beat the Jardine. I chose to cut my stock pipe and build the insides with perforated tube and packed like my friends jardine posted above. Wavex it looks like you put a lot of miles on your bike. You may be interested in looking into some more permanent packing. |

Scg yes... thank you both very much for the responses! I will have to make sure I repack properly. Here is the video comparing stock with Jardine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8xWgkGPp8U I rode 30min today and it is crazy loud... I don't think I could deal with that on a regular basis, so I mounted the quiet insert tonight... will see tomorrow. |

great video work! subscribing for the insert clip. very nice bike too, black and blue is where its at! do you wear a lid while riding? the reverb/resonance i get inside my helmet is almost painful after some time. |

Thanks man... Yes, helmet + gear all the time Indeed, the Jardine hurts my ears due to the resonance in the helmet and cheer loudness The quiet insert drops the volume just enough to make it bearable... resonance is gone and the decel popping doesn't shred my eardrum anymore... I recommend it. Now, does it make the Jardine "quiet"? Not at all... it is still VERY loud compared to stock, expecially when riding.
