appears to be a thing of the past!!! Ambient temps here about 90. After a fun run down a local twisty I spent a fair amount of time stop light to stop light and staying under 50 but in lower gears keeping the rpms up to get hot. Ended with 20 min. in the park at 15 to 20 mph in first. Little heat on me at all, less than my other bikes put on me even. I had indicated ambients of over 120 at times. Never had a coolant temp over 185 while moving or 190 parked extended idle. After the extended idle and shut down I watched for boiling fuel for 30 minutes. None! Bike's power train is stock as bought except for the re-flashes. Looking forward to the upcoming 110 plus days that will be here soon! (OK that is stretching the euphoria just a bit) Way to go Buell! |

I agree. It was low 80s here and I didn't see more than mid-180s. It seems to recover better from the spikes in coolant temps too. I noticed in cooler temps it would get down into the low-160s. I know it never did that the first cold season. |

damn u in ur warm enviroment! just kiddn im happy for u. it hasnt been to bad here either(maine) but high teens and low 20s in the mornings . im really curious what flash i have because my temp never gets below 175 even in 20-30 degrees. (Message edited by jmr1283 on April 19, 2009) |

New Orleans here. been in the 70s some 80s and i've been hitting the 190's on coolant temps, all ECM calibrations done. |

It was around 90 on Sunday, I think. CT was again mid-180s running hard and low 190s once I got back in town in traffic. |

After the 20 lap F1 race at Willow this Sunday, the coolant temp on Higbee's bike was 193. This is a race bike with a race ECM and pipe, but stock radiators. It's not an apples to oranges comparison. The ambient at Willow during the race was 88F (actual - not IC reading). On my ride home, I had as high as AT of 130 and CT of 197 in snared traffic. At speed, the AT would show 104 and CT 185.When I got home, I learned that the official high for here was 98F. The bike did not hiss, piss, boil or stink up the garage afterwards. As it should be. That whole temperature deal was resolved with Flash 3. |

Yes, Ozzzie I agree. And a little extra shot of fuel in the mixture seems to help out too. |

same here, after the fuel tube relocation and 3rd flash done. I noticed the tube spitting fuel and fumes coming out of it constantly while running, i have a puddle of fuel now, before i did not. maybe because of the increase in fuel on calibration? |

Let me clarify, I have increased the AFV via a tuner program, so the "extra shot" reference is not really referring to the 3rd flash, although that certainly helps ALOT. It's possible that the puddle did not occur before as it as dumping on the exhaust and evaporated. |

I don't know where you live but its been mid 60's and low 70's and have shown AT up to 100 and 185 for CT and the gas was dripping and hissing out of the new vent line when I parked the bike. I had a puddle on the driveway after a 30 mile ride without traffic. It was in the driveway because I cannot park it in the garage until its cooled down. or I am worried that I may not have a garage later if those fumes catch. I have all 3 flashes. |

When they change the formulation back to summer gas the boiling point will be higher. Should stop soon. R |

sorry to say that it dosen't help, it was last summer that I had it in the shop to find the issue with boiling fuel. I wish that was the case, now I will have to wait and see about how the new flash affects the boiling this summer, as I had the flash done in fall and the temp outside never heated up again. I will say that I haven't had boiling fuel since the new flash but then again it hasn't been over 80 degrees outside since that flash. |

Last summer I had the boiling fuel problem but with the carbon cannister we don't get the fumes or dribbles, very nice. But on the other hand the pressure in the tank would build up to the point that you'd get a face full of hot gasoline if you were not careful opening the tank sometimes. And a few related trouble codes. And high coolant temps. Central California, in the high 90s now. No overpressure in the tank (or boiling fuel), no trouble codes and the bike has good coolant temps. No changes to my bike except the re-flashes. Last Spring I started having problems before it got to 90 here. |
