I was talking to my Dad this weekend and the battery in my mom's 883 took a dump and he was complaining about how much HD wanted for a battery (about $140) but still prefers HD's battery's over other choices since he seams to get the best life out of them. I was telling him that that the battery for my XB wasn't that much when I replaced it last year and it was still an HD battery. I think I paid about $80. Can anyone tell me if the battery in an 05 XB12S would work in an 06 XL 883? We were guessing that the terminals are differenet or something just for HD to turn the screws to ya. I would just pull the battery out of mine and check if I could but the XL is up in NJ and before we both pull batterys out for measuring and pictures I figured I would ask here Thanks in advance |

The XB battery is MORE than enough to crank the 883 - IF it fits - but just as important, CHECK THE TERMINALS. Without a part in front of you to look at, you MUST check which side the + and - terminals are on!!! Different HD batteries can have terminals on opposite sides. |

I ride a lightning when requires a factory sealed battery because it lays on its side.I do not know how an 883 is positioned. If you do not use a sealed battery where needed it may leak, thats all.Oh it will probably ruin your paint. |

Get a speedcell battery, weighs less than 2lbs, is the size of a pack of cigarettes and will out crank the stock battery, all the way down into subzero temps. |

Thanks guys, Slaughter, that is my main concern, are the terminals in the same location? I know the one in there is sealed. I't not a fan of vented ones, just a PITA. Froggy I would go that route if it were mine. But its my Dad and he is cheep, Hence me trying to figure out if the Buell part numberd battery is cheaper then the HD one. |

Probably the SAME price - I think retail is like $99. The Buell IS a sealed battery. |

Speedcell IS an awesome way to save almost 5 pounds AND get more battery. Costs $250 plus about $10 shipping... (I'm looking for the racebike) |
