I love the looks of the Buell motorcycle, older and newer. I went to the Northeast Motorcycle Expo in Hartford Connecticut and actually sized up the various Buells. The 2002 X-1 didn't fit (I'm 6'6" tall with long legs) but the new XB9S fit perfectly. The only problem is that it looks like a dirt bike under me. Should I look at a Cyclone for a better fit? Or should I look silly on a small motorcycle. Any advice? Thanks |

Well first off did you sit on the Cyclone? It is the bike I bought for other reasons than ergo's. And there are about a million things you can do to the M2 to make it one bad ass scoot. Just take your time sit on a few take a demo ride and enjoy. Here is a pic of my bike so you can see the wide area of change, mind you, you can't see the engine mods i did enternally.

Reofan . . . . . not sure why you're concerned what you look like on the scoot . . . . with the exception of big windows downtown, you likely won't be seeing much of yourself (smile) . . . . of course when you DO see your reflection, the size of your grin will be the only thing you remember! I've got an M2, and it fits me fine . . . Like Spidey sez, there's lots of potential there, but if the 9S fits you, grab the sucker and run! |

Reofan, think about it, a dirt bike with 70 plus hp. It will be a hoot. I have a 9R and love it. dave |

Reo, I am 6ft and about 240 and don't look that small on the S1. Like the boys comments, your not looking at yourself on this thing. |

Ride the fit, not the looks. Turn out the lights and cover all the mirrors, sit on as many different bikes as you can, test ride as many as you can. Eventually one will feel like home. Turn on the lights and uncover the mirrors, then go for a ride. I've got an M2 and an S2. After riding one the other one feels a little funky at first, but after a day it feels right. Then the other one feels funky at first, but after a day it feels right. The cycle repeats itself. Ride what works for you, looks are for shows. Ride what feels good, leave the lookin' for the ones standing on their porch as you ride past. |

Funny, the X1 and the XB9S feel relatively the same to me. The XB9R is good as well only the reach is not so good for my back for the long haul. Would suggest you follow MikeJ's advice and go for the fit. The XB9S will be a real treat to ride and from what I read small is the new thing among the competitors. Buell just got there first. |

What would you rather have...the shoe that fits or the one that looks best? |

A true Bueller. He sits on a milk crate. |

Court described here how to sit on the requisite milk crate and mind meld with your Buell until she tells you what it is she needs from you. I have found it works well. Leaks and loose bolts are reduced since adopting this ritual. The more you look at the minimal amount of parts that are on a Buell, the more you appreciate the genius of the designer. |

Any backyard garage without at least one milk crate is not a real backyard garage. |

Buell Mind Meld--for those who have not been assimilated! I have used that technique for all my beloved cantankerous machinery. Often at night after a ride down A1A to a deserted beach I stop and park near a bench facing the street so that I can appreciate the spare beauty that defines Buell. As for size I am 6'-3" 240# and love the fit and feel of my 2000 X1--I rode 3600 miles the first ten days and she's been a part of my psyche ever since. Every now and then I'll catch a glimpse of myself in a shop window and hell yes I dwarf the the bike, but 99% of the time I am at one on the road, the machine a mere extension of my desire for velocity! Go for it--it's how the bike let's you feel/and how you feel about the bike--looks are just "window-dressing" in my opinion... |
