Bluzm2, Was it someone on a Ducati (seen on Washington Ave)? Was it someone on a Sportster (also seen on Washington Ave)? Was it some SOB on a UJM in front of me as I was driving home? I kept thinking to myself, "Look at that SOB riding while I'm stuck here driving. Who does he think he is?" All I know is...it wasn't me! |

Brad, You make me jealous, I wanted to ride today but have to drive my van home due to work projects that are out of town. Hey I'm going to be in the Cities the last week of Jan. and plan on going to the cycle show on Sun. Are you going? I'll give you a call if we don't meet up and maybe go have a beer one night. I'll be staying near I394 & Hwy 100. A buddy of mine is looking at either an FJR or an ST1300. I told him he'd better decide and then grab one, they don't sit around very long. He wants to go to Colorado with us next June if the Beres' pick a date that will work (or if they even want to do it again). |

Mike & Brad We are not planning anything for June. But if you and your friends pick a time and come out this way, we would certainly like to go riding with you. Let us know if you make it out this way. Brad,Thanks for the CD. Kim & Cheryle Beres |

I am interested in changing the front motor mount on my 2000 M2. Does any one know how to do this? |

Croft: What is the part number on your service manual? You do have a service manual, right? The procedures have changed and it will be essential that you follow the procedures. Court |

Croft, If you are doing this beause you put a different air cleaner I strongly suggest you just cut off the support bracket end instead of putting the X1 bracket on. There is just too much risk of harming your heads in doing the change. |

Court I was thinking about making a billet replacement mount, how difficult is it to swap the mount(s)? (I will buy a service manual this afternoon.) JohnC |

If you guys are talking about the front mount attached to the heads it can be taken on and off with no problem.I have had the one on my S-2 off several times, even polished it up real purty.Just spray threads down with penetrant before hand. And remember to support the motor!! |

>>>the front mount attached to the heads it can be taken on and off with no problem. I'd hesitate to characterize the operation as "no problem". I'd concede it's "no problem" *IF* it's done strictly per the book. If not, it could be a problem. My fear is that someone may infer "no problem" to mean that things like procedures, bolt lengths, stenghts and torque values are mere guidelines rather than strict specifications. This bracket, which is essential in supporting the engine, has been known to break when proper procedures are not followed. Just a word of caution..... Court |

John (M2Me), Wasn't me on the Duc, the Sporty or the UJM. Just me and my M2 out in the western burbs! Should have seen the looks I got walking around Home Depot in my AeroStich suit with my helmet in hand. I even heard someone mutter something about "damn snowmobles". What a moron, we haven't had any snow all winter! Back to reality today huh. Suppose to be a whopping 15 degrees tomorrow. Brad |

Court Thanks for your advice (again), I don't know if you remember my asking your opinion about M2s last summer, but you were right, they are one of the best motorcycles ever built. (I bought a 2000 two months ago) JohnC P.S. I'll send you a picture of the new mount if and when I build/install it. |

Hey Court, You prolly know...was reading this magazine on aviation on the plane the other day, and they mentioned that in 1947, they went supersonic with a rocket-powered "Bell X-1" aircraft. Is that where Erik got the inspiration for the "X-1" designation or is that purely coincidental? b(u)ell X-1...hmmmm Frank |
