That's a lot of wiring, you have no room for the rat either! Did you bring a + wire up from the bat.? What are you using for a horn? I know this is kinda off subject but is there any good lower cost GPS out there, or do you have to spend the $$$ for the Zumo 550? | ||

Ronmold, you can get a lower cost GPS that works fine, but they generally do not allow you to upload your own routes. I think the beauty in the GPS lies in just that ability. The price goes up when you add that feature. If you want something to get you from point a to point b, or find your way home then there are a lot of cheap options. | ||

Thats my next project, going to make a switchbox that way I can turn stuff on and off as needed.
I got two middle fingers, they make up for it
Get something Garmin, like a cheap Nuvi 250. They lack some of the features of the Zumos, but it will at least let you get a GPS and see what you need. Best part is, if it breaks, your out only $100. | ||

When i brought power from the battery up for the new horn, I ran a ground from the battery with it. Also ran a spare wire while I was at it. I'll find a use for it sooner or later. | ||

I used the acc. socket wire and put a 25A fuse in as the 10 lit up when I tried it. It will do for now. Running a ground wire is fine but really unnecessary if you clean up the frame grounds which needs to be done anyways. Running a spare wire is good thinking! | ||

I ran 3-#12 THHN (1 white - 2 Orange) from the battery to the inside of the fly screen. I also ran the Zump 550 power (+ and -) from the battery and the power for the PIAA relay feed. I wrapped the whole commotion in a plastic tube, two wraps of Scotch 33+ and two wraps of Bulldog friction tape, and then fished the entire mess along the inside of the frame. I'd tried doing just the wires and interestingly enough when I went back to "do it right" there was bare copper conductor showing where one had been abraded. | ||

Try the Nuvi 550, waterproof, motorcycle friendly, can be found for $250. My next purchase. The Zumo has some nice features designed for specifically for the motorcycle rider, however at 2.5 to 3 times the cost I find it hard to drop the extra coin. As a matter fact other than the fact that the Zumo has it's hard buttons set up for the left hand I actually prefer the Nuvi. Go to the Garmin website and compare the two. Try the Nuvi 550, waterproof, motorcycle friendly, can be found for $250. My next purchase. How about a four HID system under the flyscreen, and a Hella (Tuber style) Horn. This was done about a year and a half ago with many other Mods...which I posted here  |
