…the way it should have been built in the first place. It’s probably all my years in back country sports and in the outdoor industry, but I just can’t stand to see a potentially great product left unfinished. The Buell Tail Pack could be such a great product, but as it is it’s incomplete. When not filled to capacity the thing is loose and floppy and even when pretty full, it still tends to tip side to side due to the loose fit of the tail in the back pouch. The single strap and buckle at the bottom will keep it from falling off, but the overall fit on the rear of the bike is still too loose for my liking. So, for a few additional bucks, I decided to make a good product better, if not perfect. I took the bag to a near-by shop that specializes in custom fabrication and repair of outdoor gear and had them fit the bag with compression straps. The top strap is attached just below the curve of the top portion of the bag and the bottom strap sits about three inches from the bottom of the bag. I also hat them run a strap dead center that runs the full circumference of the bag. Where the top and bottom straps compress the payload, preventing it from shifting in the bag, the center strap pulls the entire pack firmly against the Triple Tail. Now the bag mounts up like it should. I just wish I didn’t have to go through this trouble myself to make it right.

Man I like that! I'll see if I can find someone around here that can do the same. Enjoy the Rocky Mtn's. I wish I was back there/home. |

Thanks. When I first got this thing, I thought is was a pretty well designed piece. It's capacity is cavernous and it's pretty well compartmentalized. I though right away that it could use compression straps and when I finally used the thing, my assumptions were right. When it's not filed to capacity, the thing sits pretty sloppely on the seat or rack. With the straps it sits quiet stable and snug and the straps allow you to push the payload towards the bottom for even better balancing. I'm quite pleased with it. |
