2005 Parts Catalog lists the exhaust stud nuts as 5/16" x 18 coarse, they are 5/16 x 24 fine thread (part #DA0500.12FZ). The stud (head) thread is 5/16" x 18. 2009 parts catalog is correct. I dont know when they made the correction. |

Always remember, when you find something like that, to let the good folks at Technical Publications know.

Yeah, I was going to mention that, but it doesnt really help the guy who just tried to check his oil with the engine running (as the manual states)!!! My hope with this thread is, that besides helping people, we'll actually use the address on that form and get this stuff off to them. |

I was told by the Harley Dealer I bought my bike from to check with the engine running. I assume this is incorrect? |

Check the oil with the engine off, immediately after a nice long ride where the engine is up to full operating temperature. I keep a rag handy on a shelf next to where I park my bike so I can reach it before I even get off the bike. |

2 years after the last post here by Erik, and after the 3rd time that I have adjusted the clutch on my 2001, I finally noticed a short coming on the manuals behalf. It states in the adjustment procedure that adjusting the adjustment screw(6) clockwise 1/4 turn to set for clutch adjustment. The diagram shows (6) as the primary adjuster! That may throw someone off for sure! The screw they are talking about is in the middle of the outer ramp! (for those that don't know what the outer ramp is, it is, if you are looking at the manual, what the lockplate (5) is seated in and has a threaded stud with a standard driver slit in it to do the adjustment. I've adjusted my clutch 3 times now before noticing the error in the book. I guess I'm glad I had common sense on my side! |

LOL! Yeah, since I had a Sportster for years I never bothered to look at the diagram. That could really mess someone up! It might help that they have it identified correctly on the opposite page but........ I'd love to hear a story from someone who actually tried to adjust that screw instead. |

It certainly threw me off. It didn't look right, but I figured that the manual, vetted by years of Sportster use, would know better. My favorite is where they say "repeat on back cylinder" - forgot what the topic was. |

"repeat on back cylinder" LoL! Ah, yes, for anyone that thought the Blast was a completely new motorcycle! The cam cover that has the bearing bores for 4 camshafts-yup, completely new design! |

FYI, 25760-00Y is the first version of the Blast cam cover and it only has the bearing bores for 2 cams. I will have to look when I get home, but I think the 4 bearing cam cover is from 2003.
