Can't find my original post about the mirror vibration....but... Just a note to say thank you to the couple of people (hope you remember who you are!) that told me what to do to "fix" this built-in malady. Now that I'm driving my CR again (latest ECM remap)..... Yep - I cleaned the area between the mirror and the housing with a clean rag and some brake-cleaner. Then with a fresh tube of black silicone, the plastic tip cut back to the second step...injected the silicone into the gap. I did the top and sides, while leaving about an inch at the bottom for it to breath...so no condensation or heat buildup would effect the placement or mirror coating of the mirror. Before it sets up, using your finger, smooth the ribbon of silicone so it's nice and smooth...unless you like the "welded" look. Let it set for an hour or so and using a sharp razor blade and a clean rag with the brake clean on it....do a final clean up on the glass surface. Looks like it was made that way. Mike | ||

Orman - Yes. Buzz - Nope...best to do that "before" the silicone is injected. I suppose one could use a very sharp razor/Exacto knife to remove the set up silicone and readjust them....but why (different pilots?). Mike | ||

Thx guys. Yep the trick is to 1) adjust them b4 hand and 2) you can use an x-acto to break the bond, even though I have not had to do that myself. Later Neil S. |
