It was Saturday, I had just finished the chores that my wife had for me and it would be about 4 hours before she got home from work. I had some time to kill so I thought that I would run over to Capitol City HD&Buell to see if they would warranty my deluxe tank bag, (another story). When I got there they had a ton of bikes set up outside as it was a somewhat nice spring day. I noticed they had a XR1200 and a few Vrods and then the standard array of HD's, I was looking to see if they had the 1125 out and sure enough there sat a black 1125CR and an 08 1125R, well now, tank bag first and then maybe a test ride! After I got done with my errand there a salesman came up to me and told me that I would be going for a test ride, apparently they were having a competition to see what salesman could set up the most test rides, well consider me a test rider. I told him that I'd love to ride the CR, I had always wanted to try one. I grab my gear and meet him at the bike, anticipation filled me as he turned the key, I wanted to hear that Rotax roar, but instead we got, click, click, click. Yay. So he told me that he would charge it and that he wanted me to take the XR1200, well why not. So jumped on the XR took it for about 6 miles, it was fun but you know how you sometimes ride another bike and you just know whether or not you would ever actually buy it? I will probably not be buying an XR, don't get me wrong fun and all but not my current style. Upon my return the CR was still not ready so he gave me the VRod Muscle next. Now there is a bike that I could buy, wow, no cornering but power aplenty, it was fun. So long story longer, I get back and they finally have the CR ready, this is what I've been waiting for! I took the CR on the same 6 mile loop and I wanted to take on another 100 6 mile loops, the bike is awesome. I loved the power and handling. I went home and pretty much could talk of nothing else for the remainder of Saturday and all day Sunday. All my wife could say was, "I told you not to ride that thing, now you'll just want onel" She was right. So the dealer has an 08 1125R that they put a Jardine on and the salesman basically told me that they can't get it sorted, stumbles and what not. Or they have the 09CR. I have an 08 Ulysses. I have contemplated seeing what they would do on a trade for the R. I am 6'3" the CR was awesome but I like to ride long days and I thought the R may be more suited for that. So long story even longer, you guys riding the 1125's are lucky, the bike is awesome and I should have listened to my wife. |

Oh the dreaded test ride. It only took me 6 months after my test ride to pull the trigger. LOL |

here in europe the laws are sometimes stronger, you know. The european congress is thinking to write on the 1125's: DANGER, MAY CAUSE ADDICTION. Really, be careful. |

Yes, it's an addiction. My Loretta was the first 1125 I saw in person. When I first saw her, she was on the pallet covered in protective sticky-wrap. I got to strip all that and expose her myself. They let me dig around, find the fuse and light up the IC for the first time since it left East Troy. My "test ride" was 15 feet in first gear in the Service Bay so "I" could be the first to ride her. When I peeled the plastic off the fairing and saw what looked like an overstuffed low-cut sweater, I knew her name was Loretta. She has 17302 smiles on her now. Zack |

Tell them to put the stock exhaust back on and take the 08'. If you keep the Jardine you will need some way to modify the ECM or go with the Race ECM (if you have a comp. license). Our Dealer in M-Boro has the Jardine on his personal bike and they had to use the Race ECM and modify the program to make it run correctly. My $0.02, save the money on the 08' w/o the Jardine and just Ride It And Have FUN!!! (BTW, there are MANY ergo fix's and luggage upgrades that can be had.) later Neil S. 1125rt, ~19,000 s'miles. |

I've done some long days on my CR. The ergo's are just about the same as the R. Unless you're looking for wind protection, either one would suit you just fine. |

If you're on the tall side, either way you go look at putting pegs from a Ulysess on. Relaxes the ergos on your legs quite a bit. R |

Oddly enough, mine runs fine with a Jardine pipe, stock map, K&N filter and denoided. Just checked the AFV, it's at 110 front and 100 rear. It also will still outrun an Aprillia RSV1000 with a race ECM and titanium race pipe. |

Haha, great story! My R was the first first I saw as well. It took a month or so before I bought it. Even bought it without test riding her (had a XB12R before and figured it would only be better). |

I am 6'3 and my R fits me like a glove. I don't need any lower foot pegs or rise to the bars to still be comfortable on long rides (I have been known to do 100-120 miles between stops). I would go with the R just because the CR has no wind protection...just like the XB S. Just my $.02 |

working for a dealership I got the chance to test the 1125r's at VIR during the dealer training in sept. 2007 came back and called the guys that wanted to buy my XB12r told him to come in first of october and it was his. My 1125r came in late Feburary the rest is history. Very pleased with my 1125r |

I never do test rides, but if you can afford what you want, why would you deny yourself the pleasure of owning it. Life is short have fun. Also for about $20.00 apiece, another model of buell has footpegs that are a one-inch drop that fit right on, I put them on mine they work great. |

Buy the '08 with the Jardine and then check with me and I'll get you hooked up with the guy that can send you a tune so that the bike will run perfect. |

What would you guys/gals consider a fair trade? Me with my 08' Uly, 7500 miles, Black. The dealer with an 08 1125R, not sorted, Jardine exhaust, they have the stock exhaust too, I don't know the miles. I don't expect them to lose money, but they have an 08 1125R that they honestly don't know what they're doing with. They do manage to sell Uly's though. My bike plus $1000? Straight up ? I honestly don't know. |

I'm trying to talk my hubby into letting me buy a CR and keep my Scg. That way we could trade off (maybe). Would want to put a louder exhaust on it tho, just a bit too quiet |

Hey Mayer, Same story here. I read and read about them, rode one on a saturday (i shouldn't have), so my SV that day and put down a deposit, picked her up on Thursday. Unfortunately, now she's sitting in phoenix collecting dust. I have to sell, cause I'm in Japan and can't bring her here! She has about 9500 miles, all updates/re-flashes done. I am going to take a loss on what I owe, I know, but I would love to get her into someone's garage instead of sitting in my fiance's not getting ridden. Let me know if you're interested, please!
