How hard is it on the bike if i remove the air Filter. I took it out and loved how my baby sounded. |

It a bad idea to run without your air filter. Just remove the inner airbox cover, sounds awesome and wont ruin anything. |

Think about it......"f i l t e r"... This is the part that does a fairly good job of keeping out harmful things like dust, grit, small pieces of sand, sand, small rocks, rocks, leaves (the plural of leaf)...and other harmful "stuff". Unless you enjoy spending money on new rings every few thousand miles. Mike |

I'm usually the guy who hates it when other people get snarky in their answers, but . . .

Two dinner plate sized throttle bodies to suck in a LOT of air. I get a LOT of trash (leaves, pebbles, sand, etc.) inside the airbox on a regular basis. If you run it without a filter, kiss your warranty goodbye. Only place/time I would even 'contemplate' it is @ a dragstrip. Just my opinion & YMMV. |

Lionel: Are you talking about the air filter or the air box cover? There is no real issue with running without the air box cover. The air filter is another story. You will get that Niiice throaty sound w/o the cover. later Neil S. |

The amount of dirt, grit and other stuff ( grass, leaves etc ) I would never run the bike without an air filter ! I'm actually surprised that it's never sucked a small bird in ! I even considered adding a screen to the air intake just to keep some of the larger stuff out. |

You may have a slight performance issue above 80 or 100mph since you won't have the same RAM-AIR effect. But, when you consider how seldom you really need the ram air and how slight the reduction in HP really is, you would really only miss it on the track (just my $0.02). So rock'n roll and enjoy the audio effects. Later |

Ha ha ha Lion. The BOX needs to go. Take it out today and, while you're at it, rip out the solenoid as well (see other threads about the procedure). |
