I've yet to try 5th at 6000+...Nuts are not big enough... Even 4th at 6000+ is a stretch for me...My favorite is the 2nd on entry ramps when merging with other traffic. |

I bounce off of the rev limiter in every gear when I get the opportunity, which for the sake of the motor is not that often. It would be like having sex with a 20 year old every day. Great while it lasts until it kills you. |

The rush of getting on the highway from a short entrance ramp from about 20 mph to 80 mph instantly is cool. But for an even more adrenaline type dump try doing that with a hi po two lanes over as you look to make sure you not merging into a car. You get the quick acceleration rush followed by the oh shit I'm screwed rush. It makes for a cool emotional response. |

I've been ticketed before for "unnecessary display of power". You don't have to be over the speed limit to get a ticket. I was just going from 0 - posted speed limit as quickly as possible while keeping the front tire on the ground. Only a $60 ticket IIRC but those driving record points SUCK when you're a single 22yo paying for insurance on a 1200cc sportbike |

>>> It makes for a cool emotional response... Playing what amounts to Russian roulette with traffic is just plain foolish. Advocating such foolish suicidal behavior is criminal. |

so checking the lane your merging into before you do is Russian roulette huh. You should take the bus if changing lanes scares you that much. |

I have had my x1 well over 140. It is not stock and now it's going into stage 2 on the engine building as another valve got gobbled up and destroyed the top end on both cylinders. I have pulled a 45 mph corner coming off the freeway at 120 mph, Man i love how this bike corners. In the city i have found no equal, They all lose the same. I have beaten a couple of jixxer 1300's and 1 cbr 1000 repsol edition and 3 kwasaki 600's a few Mercedes cars and a dodge ram srt10 viper truck, a mustang 500 at 140+ |

I must have misunderstood you there "Stoke". I thought you were suggesting that merging without due caution gave you some kind of thrill. I understand now that you meant that merging with due caution is what gives you a thrill. To each his own. |

Preybird, You must be quite the drag racer to be able to best bikes with so much more power. Very impressive. Consider, please taking the racing to the track were it belongs. |

Blake, I think you just have problems in general understanding. You should try hooked on Phonics. Let me break it down for you slowly. Accelerating quickly to speed is fun. Noticing an officer of the law two lanes over that just witnessed you rapidly accelerating is really not fun. It's the extremes of two emotions. It was meant to be a look how stupid I was story and the feeling it gave me. Sorry it is so confusing. Just don't read anymore of my posts and there will be no more confusion. |

FWIW, Stoked, I also couldn't quite figure out what you were trying to say in your first post until you just explained it. Do ya see, pounding the keyboard in an adrenaline rush can also produce less than desirable results? Hi po, never heard that one before. Maybe it's just me. But it's cool. As the saying goes, it pays to, "look before you leap." |

I assumed that "hi po" was highway patrol, "as you look to make sure you not merging into a car." and thought this was pretty clearly stated. But hey can't we all just get along! Everybody just go ride! And make sure you look before you merge |

First time I see the term hi po and I would have never guessed it to mean highway patrol. May be I also need to sign up for Hooked on Phonics... You guys have much bigger nuts than me. I am still working on breaking the 90 mph barrier on a bike. May be I just hate to spend the rest of my life sitting on a wheel chair reading Cycle World magazine... |

To Preybird and others who like to go fast on the street..... Please consider the risks of going as fast as you say you are driving. There are too many variables that occur on the streets, just drive reasonably. I too enjoy speed, but at the track. Please take it to the track and go fast there. It is a real thrill to use the bike to it's limits, but so much safer under the controlled conditions. Too many of us are killed or injured by cars or road conditions that can not be avoided at high speed on public streets. All it takes is one accident to change your life forever, or to end it. Your life is too precious to throw away. I realize that most of you will not consider slowing down, but please be the one who is intelligent enough to drive sanely on the street. I have known too many who thought it would not happen to them. Jim |

Clearly a generation gap occurring here. I think we all have common ground in that these bikes kick serious ass. However, I don't think you'd see some Badweb riders riding together on a regular basis. I think there is a mortality gap also. |

Jim you are totally right we do need to slow down with the speed on the road, But sometimes it is to much temptation. Most of this high speed riding was after some of the latest mods. I will keep your advise in mind jim and blakes as well. I have had a few friends almost die being stupid on bikes and one brother almost ate it last year passing some baggers in the twisty canyon road Blake im not a bad drag racer but i was talking about winning in a 1-2 stoplight period or an 1/8 mile drag. I have seen what happens when you try and race at the top end of the bike's ability. I have not lost in the city yet! |

lol, I make a post about sprinting up to 80 mph to enter onto a highway with a speed limit of 75 mph and this is considered fast???? The post was about the acceleration not the speed. You guys freaking out about riding at 80 mph need to seriously consider selling your Buell and getting a moped. Your gonna get smashed tooling around like a grandma on the highway. And ye, I'm old. At least I didn't called it a Texas Bubble Gum Machine. |

i believe the only person that you should listen to is your father, other than that what does it matter what someone else thinks is right for you. I do 90 on the highway with my hair blowing behind me!!!! jk |
