I picked up a used Blast for cheap and in the process of fixin' it up, I noticed that the front foot peg mounts both seem to be angled into the bike so that the pegs are angled down. Hard to believe this is normal but I don't see any sign of damage. Can I just pull on the mounts until they come out some? Or is there another way to correct this? | ||

Yes, the y-frames can be pulled out. The most cosmetic saving way I've heard off has been to tie the bike between two trees and pull them out with a winch. I've beaten one with a hammer to the desired angle (there was a reason for this brutal method) and I've also used spacers. Beware of buying used. Almost all y-frames get bent from minor falls and its almost impossible to tell a straight Y-frame without mounting it on the bike. As far as the pulley, yes its supposed to ride on the edge next to the cover. Its not adjustable, misalignment usually caused by bent/worn parts (though I've never actually heard of anybody having to replace parts to realign it). Well meaning or malicious busybodies will tell you something must be wrong with the belt. Pay them no heed and resist the OCD maneuver of using spacers to center the belt in the middle of the pulley. And no its not prone to breakage, though it occasionally happens, its certainly not epidemic. |
