Well the clutch cover started leaking so I took it in and they are just going to order the inner parts and not the rev B cover... I don't know what good that is going to do. Maybe someone can chime in and let me know. But the good news is, I got to take a Road Glide home. Pretty fun cruiser, and tomorrow I plan on taking it on a small trip through the ozarks and have a little fun with the woman on the back. |

Mine was weeping last Fall. When I brought mine in for the 12,600 mile service they also replaced an o-ring in the clutch cover with a new version. After 7,000 miles I still don't have any leaks. Yeah I wanted the rev "B" cover but, what I really wanted was the weep to stop. The weep stopped so, I'm just riding the sh!t out of it. Later Neil S. |

Yeah if it stops I'll be happy. I also learned that the fluid being leaked is actually DOT 4. Which explains the paint corrosion on the clutch cover. |

I just got my bike back --- my clutch cylinder, sleeve, and ) O-rings actually failed in a spluge of fluid on the way home. I got the Nightster which was also fun, but GOD I missed my bike. I'm no mechanic, and they didn't honor my request for the Rev-B cover either (they said they do that on the second go-round), but when you get right down to it, it's not the cover that's failing (I think). It's the innards, and I would much rather fix the weep at the source. That being said, if I see corrosion on the cover I will ask for a replacement on the spot. |

ha! Mine's been "reworked" inside twice, still weeping. But I never got a loaner bike. Man, that'd be the ticket! |

Noticed mine starting to leak yesterday. Back to the dealer AGAIN! I'm getting real tired of this bike. |

Hang in there Smoore, just remember it could always be worse. Thanks for the replies gents. Time to go float this road glide down the road. |

Mine has a steady, small dribble. I've had to add fluid twice. I don't think she's ever left a drip on the floor. Sunspots are a bigger issue than this, IMO. Z |

I got the rev-B cover 1st time around, just asked for it, supplied most of the part #'s and then waited. Gateway H-D did an excellent job. |

I guess I've been lucky since I've never had any clutch leaking issues— not even gentle weeping, a la George Harrison. I've even replaced my outer clutch cover myself, upgrading from original to the Rev. B. No leaking still... There is one point in the installation of all the parts that could be error-prone. There is a notch inside the cover where a sleeve needs to mate up... alignment is tricky. I practiced a few times (using the old cover and sleeve) and it seemed that you can get varying degrees of mating, depending on alignment and careful use of a hammer. I made sure my final fit was what I'd consider to be very close. I'm not an experienced tech, but a fairly meticulous engineer, so take the foregoing for what it's worth... it might help somebody. Here's a pic of the inside of the outer clutch cover and the sleeve placed inside it (the old sleeve is in the upper left): Here are various other parts... cover, piston, and you can see the various o-rings (including that revised green one):

Wow, nice to see the innards there. Thanks for the pics! I wonder what the main culprit is, and why it is wearing out so quickly? The techs at the shop stated that my O ring was destroyed and I only have 3k miles on the bike. I'm not crying about it, warranty fix is to easy, I just hope we can get it solved for longevity sake. |

If your O-ring deteriorated (presumably eaten away by DOT4), it's probably the O-ring on the spherical nut, which has since been upgraded (green color). It appears some folks are still getting the weeping with Rev. B... maybe because the techs aren't using the revised O-ring? Another possibility... (Message edited by Pariah on April 13, 2009) |
