No Buell dealer nearby and they wouldn't have the front brake switch in stock for my 95 S2 anyway. But it sure looks like standard HD controls, so I had my wife stop by the local HD dealer and had her ask for a front brake switch for a 95 XLH. They didn't have one in stock and also they said it wouldn't match the switch she had in the bag and then she made the mistake of saying it was off a Buell and the conversation ended. So tell me please, which HD model and year would have the matching front stop lamp switch for a 95 S2 with the stock 1" bar controls? I searched the archives and haven't found any substitute part numbers yet. Shane |

I have parts lookup at work so I can cross-reference, but for some reason I want to say they used big twin controls on the S2. Or did they have their own master cylinder, because of the PM brake? (switch will be part of that assembly). We have demos today, but it's raining pretty good...I may have a chance to check for ya. |

Yep, My parts book shows part No 71590-92. A bit of googling shows this as being the standard stop switch for 82-95 big twins and sportsters. Loads for sale on the magical interweb for around $8 |

Thank you. I do have the parts manual and service manual for both our Buells, but was hesitant to try the Buell numbers at the harley dealer. I figured out this morning after talking to Macy what went wrong with the plan. The parts guy helping her (the owner of the dealership no less} brought out a rear brake switch and then told her it didn't match what she had in the bag, so of course she must be wrong, and then the Buell entered the conversation and that was the end of that. He should have recognized the switch, even in pieces, it is a mechanical switch, unlike the rear pressure switch. Anyway, thank you for the number. Shane |

Shane On the older Buells, especially the S2 using the older HD style part numbers (ie 71590-92)if it has a y on the end it is Buell specific. If it just ends in two numbers (which identify the first year of usage) or two numbers and an A,B or C (shows updates) it is a HD part and should be able to be purchased through any HD dealer... |
