I'm still chapped, after a year's time, when Flickinger told me and the TWO crowd last March that Buell and HD will NEVER be cross-branded with one another. Could you elaborate? Do you mean Buell would never build a bike for HD with the Harley name on the tank? |

This is what my son just got as his first street bike. A couple more cc's, a Rotax and maybe call it a buell and I'm in. |

I don't know, the way the government is taking away so many of the good riding areas off road bikes may be passe. Unless you want to just ride indoors. |

Well, someone asked what the patent number was for the dirt bike, and I suggested that it hadn't published yet (therefore it is found in the "patent application" search area.) Here is a list of Buell + Motorcycle patent application search: http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=0&f=S&l=50&TERM1=buell&FIELD1=&co1=AND&TERM2=motorcycle&FIELD2=&d=PG01 Check #4 on that list: 4 20090008178 Motorcycle frame having integral fuel tank and airbox

This is actually a variation of an older theme. BSA pioneered carrying engine oil in the frame back in the late 60's [might have been '70]. Worked well unless and until the motor broke [as Brit motors were wont to do fairly frequently] which circulated junk in the oil into the frame where it was extremely difficult to get out. |

I have a '71 BSA Firebird Scrambler--Oil in frame. Edit: And two mid '70's Weslake Speedway bikes--oil in frame. And on the Weslakes, the frame is split to accept the carburetor's air filter. (Message edited by hexangler on April 10, 2009) |

Well there ya go.... Wonder if there's some expired patents gathering dust on a shelf in London or elsewhere? |

Nice find. BTW- I didn't know "pivotably" was a word (line 5 of the Abstract). |

Looking at the drawings, I think gas goes in fig.2 #86 under the seat. |

Maybe they can get a patent on the seat functioning also as the gas cap! |

Aww shucks, thanks. There are a lot of 1125r patent applications in that link as well. I haven't looked through all yet, but if I find anything "newsworthy" I'll let you know. |

This is a variation on BSA carrying oil in the frame? What? Boy at that rate of interpretation there wouldn't be many patents granted!!! |

maybe the Blast gets the same new 450 motor and I just put dirt tires on it. |

If they build a Blast with the new motor, I want serial number 00000001. |

I'll settle for the second one - though I deserve the first - lol - That would be one cool bike either way, and I'd have 17" street rubber on it before it even left the dealer - lol EZ |
