I watched a guy riding a wheelie cut a small deer in half. Set the bike back down and pulled off the road. Covered in blood and guts but otherwise okay.
I hit a deer in the mountains and crashed into a river at 40 mph, I have also hit 2 cats and a skunk. I crashed 2 out of the four times i have hit animals.
Biggest animal I ever hit was a bunny. All I saw was a small brown blur, and then a "thump."
Poor rabbit. At least it was quick. I also had a small bird fly into my front forks once. What a mess that left. Narrowly missed getting knocked off my bike by a flock of geese that decided to take off across the road right in my path. I ducked with INCHES to spare or I'm sure I'd've been beheaded (helmet or no)!!
Weirdest I ever had was " Chipmunk suicide by motorcycle day". I was riding to Danbury CT one sunday morning and on a 10 mile run of back road, like six to eight of the little buggers ran out of the weeds and into my wheels. I was creeped out the rest of the day.
Never had a deer strike...but...back in '75 I was out breaking in a new piston in my MT-125 Honda...(for all you racing gurus..not a MT125R factory road racer..they started building those in '77...mine was a "prototype"..part CR125, part MT125 enduro, part special pieces)it was nearing sunset as I came around a long, fast, easy sweeper near the shop...tapped out in 5th gear...fully committed...and that was when the 'possum decided to cross the road...hit it...lowsided into the weeds...not much hurt but my pride, and paint...oh well trackbike anyways.
Another time I did get a bit hurt...I hit a large horned beetle....did I mention hurt?? I was in the traps on my fastest dragbike...That beetle hit me in the neck at around 155...I thought I had been shot..not hurt bad, but scary...a neck wound bleeds like hell...
