How much power Can you gain from this? i was just wondering if its worth it or not. |

Some have said they have felt a little power increase from it. Not sure if there have been any Dyno runs. I'm doing it to keep that crap from going back into my intake. My throttle body is a mess! |

Thrux, I have the same setup as blkltng. It's an air compressor water seperator from lowes. The top is usually blue, and it has a filter in the middle of it. Right around 15$. (I rattlecanned mine black too before installing it) |

Thrux, Chippy's right, except Home Depot has black. I removed the drain, tapped the hole in the bottom plastic to 1/4" tapered pipe and installed a nice petcock from the same shelf at the Depot where the filter was. Autozone has that metal breather filter. You can get a one paper any where. An adel clamp holds it all on. Posts here claim dyno runs with a 1-2 HP gain after breather reroute |

Since this post is still fairly new can someone tell me how much (length) of the 3/8" hose I will need for the reroute and how many T's I will need? I think I will need 2 of the T's. I am going to try and get all the parts I need this weekend. I know I will need the hose, T's and a small filter. Plan on getting the same type "catch can" Blacklightning used. Also, how the heck does the velocity stack come off so I can get to the hoses? When I did my airbox mod I attempted to take the base of the airbox off just to look but didn't want to just yank on it. I know the O2 sensor just pulls out from the bottom but I wasn't sure how to get the base off completely. And yes, I did remove the screws that hold it down:-) Thanks for any help here. |

I used 1 T and about 3 feet of hose (so far). I think I'm going to redo it soon for cosmetic reasons. The velocity stack has a big spring clip around it. You don't need to take it off though. Just fold it and stuff it through the bottom of the air box. Disconnect the wires to the Air Temp Sensor between the breather tubes. No need to pull the sensor out. |

Yeah, 3' would be good, just in case you f something up. 1 T, and some zip ties. |

I just did mine after reading this post. I used Clear Vinyl Heat Tubing, a fuel filter modded to work as a catchcan, and a small breather filter from autozone. Ill try and get some pictures soon, never knew so much stuff would come back into my intake. |

Forgot to ask if after rerouting the breather hoses you need to do anything to the holes that are left in the base of the airbox? (where the breather hoses used to run) I have heard some people plug them up, but didn't know if that was necessary? Thanks again. |

Real cheap way to plug the two holes, take a short piece of hose and stick it through both holes. (one uncut piece through both holes) |

I got my catchcan completed and installed today. Still need to plug the two existing holes in the airbox. Waiting for a more permanent mount to come in the mail as well. Ziptied to the bike for the time being . Here is how the catchcan looked before I put it on the bike. Went with the air compressor filter setup. Fits nicely

+1 on simply using a piece of hose looped up from the bottom through the holes. |

Yea, the looping of the hose idea works awesome. My catchcan setup is now complete. I was fairly surprised how much water was in it after a 20 mile ride! I didnt notice any power gains with it, but ill be damned if my bike isnt running as smooth as a babies bottom now. |

I will take some more pictures of the setup today while I'm out riding . As for the routing under the airbox, it looks the same as it does in the other pictures. |

Personally, I'd love to see some creativity in some setups- I KNOW that some must have found more creative places to mount/route the components. I would like to not see any of the parts when I do mine- that's kinda been my hold-up in doing the mod: I haven't been "sold" on the look of anything I've seen so far. |

Ahhhh, I have mine placed right behind the oil cooler. I looked around for a little bit for any other possible locations, but none looked good and allowed me quick access to it to drain it. |

I've been looking at the inexpensive catch cans on ebay for some time (~$20-30 range) but they're a little big. They have a "box" shaped one that's about 7" x 3" x 2-1/4" and a cylindrical one that's about 6" x 3-1/4" O.D. I checked my Uly this morning and it'd be hard to find a place to mount either of those. Searched on-line for "mini catch can" and found a "Circuit Sports" mini catch can (250cc capacity) for ~$30 at a couple of places. Nobody listed the dimensions for it, but as near as I can calculate (based on capacity and photos), it's about 2" in diameter x 4" long. I think that'd work well. Here's what it looks like: Should be easy enough to mount with a couple of rubber lined clamps. |

ok, just did the reroute just like blacklightning (except kept it blue and bought the blue breather filter, matches the color of the bike) and i kinda bought the wrong size tubing (smaller ID than what is on the bike). Will it still work, or should i go buy a bigger ID? |

I would go ahead and get the 3/8 tubing. I bought the 1/4 myself. After realizing it takes 3/8, I went back and bought some of it. Glad I did, because I am pretty sure the 1/4 wouldn't have fit. |

Blacklightning, you have just started a trend with that kind of catch can, good job. Here are some pics of mine i did today.
Here is a picture of how much water/oil was in it after 40 miles.
I also bought a different license plate frame and license plate spot amber LED from American Sport Bike and they turned out pretty good.
I wasn't able to get all 4 of the spot LEDs cause the bolt wasn't long enough to go all the way through the mount so i was only able to get the bottom 2 on, but they work as turn signals. |
