I laid my x1 down and busted the air box. I replaced it with a force winder knock-off. It runs great but when I take long trips oil comes up the breather hose and soaks my right knee. Any ideas to help? |

Listed in order of expense/effort: Reroute your breather line to blow oil on your left knee... or off the back of your bike (this can spray your tire or license plate...) Route your crankcase breather lines to a catch container. (Use anything from a red bull can to a high dollar billet/machined piece). Check the knowledge vault on this, there's been some really cool homemade (cheap!!!) catch cans. Open rocker boxes, remove umbrella valves and drill the hole a bit bigger (details also in the knowledge vault). Replace rocker boxes with XB rocker boxes, and if you still get goo (many don't), route to a catch container. |

I just changed my intake this winter. At first I just ran a new hose down and back so that it exited right at the exhaust. That worked out fine but I just didn't feel safe knowing that there could be a chance that I could be soaking my back tire/brake with oil. I am now using a catch can. It is on the small size and I have to drain it before or after every ride. This one: http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.as p?RecID=4703 |

I went the XB rocker cover route. Nice, sano installation, eliminates one gasket surface, and (IMHO) probably generates less spooge than the stock set-up. |

Hmmm... I bought the bike with a knock off forcewinder too. It's been leaking red oil onto the header since day 1. The guy I bought the bike said he just recharged the filter and used too much oil. Its was dripping all last summer and fall. It never got onto my clothes, but I thought something was screwy. http://www.cas4.com/Force/Intake/AirCleaners/XR2-F I-Forcewinder.jpg What is the breather line you're talking about? Is it that smaller tube thats bent 90 degrees about the forcewinder pipe? |
