Just took delivery on an '09 XB12Ss Lightning in March. But thanks to this unco-operative weather we're having in Minnesota, I've only gotten 45 miles on it. At this rate I'll never get her broken in! I am taking advantage of the time to do a tail chop and a muffler mod tho. Any advice on modifying the factory muffler from the fabricators out there? |

"Any advice on modifying the factory muffler from the fabricators out there?" I am a fabricator and I had Odie (Special O.P.S) do mine. There is no way I could have done a better job. I'm very happy with the muffler. |

Best advice is to send the pipe to Odie or Kevin (Drummer). I just put mine on from Kevin Saturday and road it for the first time today, simply amazing sound, good power, works great with stock fueling (no other problems besides what the stock pipe had as well) and with some fuel maps I have heard it can get a pretty sweet torque/power curve... Also is lighter then stock and looks sweet with the billet end piece. I think if you just want a quick mod you can tie the exhaust valve so its always open, gives it more sound at lower throttle/revs... but nothing close to what an emptied pipe does. Oh and good choice! I love my Ss! What color??? PICS |

Hero Blue. I'll get some pics as soon as I can get around to uploading them. I've been building hotrods and off-road trucks for a long time, and to me building it myself is half of the fun!! I just bought another stock muffler off ebay to tinker around with, and have a couple of ideas already. What I wanna know is what size baffle tube this engine will respond best to. |

If you could make it to Saint Paul, you could take a look at mine. I cheated and had someone do it for me, as well. |

This site pops up every now and again on this site. "voodoo-fabrication" But here it is again for a coupla ways of modifying the stock muffler. The basic thought appears to be like the Flow Master muffler style baffling. Mike |
