So how many riders have had a Yellow Jacket ( or wasp in England) hit them in the face, when the shield is up, then find it's way into your helmet and goto sleep for 30 minutes until you get home and take it off. And not get the crap stung out of yah??? | ||

I have a yellow jacket...but its the transition made by tourmaster. Havent found any stingers in it yet, but did get my thumb caught in the zipper. I do intensly dislike bugs with stickers on the end - except the pollinators. | ||

I got zapped last summer when one of the little buggers went into the cuff of my jacket. I was wearing my short hot weather gloves without gauntlet. I don't want to do that again if it can be avoided. | ||

I got nailed by one coming back from Sturgis a few years back. Was wearing a t-shirt, and it went right up my sleeve and stung me in the armpit. It was especially fun rolling along at about 65mph with NottheD on the back. | ||

Rode through a swarm of bees once. Never got stung! But I have been stung in the elbow and in the mouth. I'll take the elbow any day. | ||

I had one fly up into my full face helmet from the bottom. It buzzed around in front of my eyes for a few secs. until I opened the shield and it flew out. Not fun. | ||

I had one get in my jacket. Stung me 5 times before I could pull over and get my jacket off. Darn wasp can sting multiple times. | ||

I get stung about once a year it seems. Never on the face though. I did have a wasp fly under my helmet once and land on its back, stunned right in front of my nose. That's when I learned how hard it is to ride cross-eyed. | ||

Not riding-related, but in the '70s I was walking through the grass in bell bottoms and a wasp (England AND Canada) flew all the way up my leg and stung me. . .  | ||

As a kid I was told that those extra large bumble bees can't sting you. I found out they were wrong last spring. Riding with the top of my jacket zipper down a few inches, I felt it hit my chest, then I could feel it crawling inside my shirt. I was doing 60 mph and was stopping as fast as I could. It nailed me just as I got stopped. I had an upper and lower belly button for a few days. The lower permanent one is an innie. The temporary upper red one was an outie | ||

Wasps hurt more. Rode into the back of a bee in the desert with my visor up. Had to stop to get the stinger out of my right "facial" cheek. Never had one camp out and wait for me. | ||

Well, fellas, I can top all youse guys. I'm also a cyclist, and with my neck problems (one too many endos) I got a recumbent bike...y'know, the kind you ride with your legs sticking out in front of you. Like THIS. So Doc...what exactly did the bee do then ??? I stepped on a ground nest of Hornets while river fishing last year - got stung 18 times - 12 of 'em on the head (the one on top of my body) my fishing "buddies" were callin me lumpy for 2 days. | ||

Haven't been wasp stung in over 40 years. But last year I got bee stung twice whilst bicycling and once riding the Uly. Little buggers stung through the cycling shorts. Got stung through the cloth crotch of my Frank Thomas leather riding pants. | ||

Got smacked on the right cheek next to my nose by something yellow at 25 mph 2 blocks from home. By the time I got home it was swelling. Gave me a nasty headache. Years ago got smacked in the throat at speed; the bugger didn't die, just crawled around to the back of my neck and then stung me! BTW- I ALWAYS wear glasses just for that reason. | ||

Riding along couple years ago with a Tshirt on got stung on the rt. forearm and being allergic to bee stings it was already swollen by the time I got pulled over,I had to wait over an hour to make sure I wasn't going to faint.I was very light headed for a while. | ||

Same thing happened to me but it found it way into the ear hole and started buzzing around. I very calmly and coolly shrieked like a ten year old girl, locked up the brakes, and swerved to the side of the road. Too late tho...already stung in front of my ear. | ||

I got nailed on my adams apple coming into work a few years back, then the one that bit me on the lip, talk about a fat lip. Oh and up in Maine the one that got in my shirt on the Maine turn pike, doing 80 and just kept stinging me. Though my all time favorite wasn't while riding but some how one was in my pants leg and I made it all the way to work and then it stung me while walking to the mens room. I could go on and on. But I will not.Bee's like me. | ||

I was riding my old scooter with a gull face helmet with no shield just a pair of sun glasses in the distance i saw this black dot facing direct to me and of course it happened to be a bee that went under my sunglasses and stung me just beside the eye, i got home with the thorn still there, removed it and a couple of hours later, it looked as if i had been boxing, could only see trough one eye | ||

Doc - Yeah...nuthin worse that knowing it's down there contemplating revenge for it's misguided flight path...except feeling the 'sting' in one or both of the 'boys'. YIKES - that could end the ride. j | ||

one more thing before we get off the subject of "Brother Buzz". I noticed that if you have excessive bee guts (preferable to deer guts) adhering to wind/fly screen (and all over your riding gear)the meat eating wasps / Hornets will be all over the Uly when stopped. The Orange Uly is worse, cuz it shares certain characteristics with it's Hymenoptera cousins. It gets worse in Aug / Sept when their disposition changes from bad to worse. Thats the only reason I wash the Uly and gear... and I don't like the taste of  Benadryl. |
