So just updating on the 03 Lightning I picked up not too long ago. I have done some decent riding and have made some changes. I have opened the air box, which had a K&N, and re-routed the breathers. Changed to iridium plugs, oil change, and primary fluid change. I adjusted the primary chain and clutch. The clutch cable boot was melted, so I fixed that. The bike already had a WileyCo exhaust, but runs like crap, because it needs to be tuned. I ordered the ECM Spy cable and will be looking for some tuning advice soon. I also removed the reflectors, removed the front signal spacers, and removed the passenger peg brackets (post pics). The bike already had traction grips, painted wheels, and custom covered seat with yellow stitching. I ordered bar end mirrors and frame pucks. Ok onto the pics.

The primary fluid was milky from water getting past the defective boot. So I ran a quart through the primary to clean it a bit. I changed it this morning and it wasn't nearly as bad. I let it drain for a long time and then sprayed the crap out of the inside with brake/parts cleaner. I put a quart of cheapie 20w50 in and will change it after the next ride. Hopefully it will be all cleaned out and no more water residue. |

Thanks everyone. The wheels look painted to me. I have pucks on order. The oil filter is a Purolator Pure One synthetic filter. |

I am going to do paint stuff after the season. I prefer to do that stuff to stay busy in the off season. |

I am really liking these wheels. I have the amber ones, and im thinking it may look cool to do the same kind of thing to them. |

Question: were the wheels originally yellow, then painted black in the middle, or were they all black, and had the yellow rims painted on? Just mildly curious. ~SM |
