MV Agusta Group (Italian Motorcycles) announced the purchase of Suzuki and Yamaha motorcycle divisions. The shocking news was best described as a move to save both companies from collapse under the current economic situations. The sale was estimated at a little over two billion and would immediately turn over complete control of both companies to MV Agusta Group by the end of April. MV Agusta Group is owned by Harley Davidson USA, which purchased MV Agusta in late 2008. MV Agusta Group and Harley Davidson spokespersons commented that "without this sale, both of the Japanese companies would eventually fail or require filing bankruptcy in order to stay afloat.
