I got my bike at the dealer's for a 12.5K service. I'd been having some first gear slippage issues and it looks like I may need new clutch plates. I have an extended warranty on the bike, but I was wondering if it makes any sense to upgrade and if anyone has any recommendations. It also looks like I may have a base gasket leak. Wanted to know if there is anything else I should do with the bike with the cylinders off. |

I talked to the guys at the shop and everybody agrees that the harley clutch is the best way to go. The aftermarket clutches don't shift into the gears as easy. The only thing they said was to go with a heavy duty spring. If your clutch is bad after 12,000 miles I would look into why, it should last alot longer than that. |

Is the Harley clutch the same as the Buell clutch? If not, you got a part number? One of the shop guys said I was spending too much time in first gear. If I'm cruising through 25 mph in first, is this really an issue? Sounds kinda fishy to me. |

defenently, first gear is for take off only. Riding the clutch on take off will do the same thing. Normally fifth gear is the first one to wear out, at least thats my expereince, but I do alot of highway riding. The harley clutch is the same, and seems to work the best. |

Have a 107,295.4 miles as of the last ride ... Still running my OEM "PRODUCT IMPROVED" Clutch and have not had any PROBLEMS !!! The OEM "CLUTCH" is a long lasting BULLET proof clutch as long as it is correctly adjusted and the correct lubricant is used in the transmission ... "i" use H-D SYN3 in both the engine and transmission at the correct levels !!! MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!! |

well i bought my bike with 17,700 miles as of now it has 25,000. so for a majority of its life, who knows how the clutch was adjusted/ ridden. sometimes riding styles and and types, (open road, city commuting) will depend the life of your bike and its components. i will make sure its adjusted properly and then HOPEFULLY trouble free. |
