So I have been in the market for a new bike as i sold my Harley last year because i had shoulder surgery done in May. There was no sense in keeping it around since i couldnt ride it all summer. I went to the dealer last week and really fell in love with the 1125R. I have wanted a sports bike for some time but being under 25 is a killer for insurance. I got a quote yesterday on the bike at 848 a year for full coverage with 1000 duc. Didnt think that was to bad but still not close to my 215 a year for my 07 Harley.

Really liked the bike when i road it today. Didnt get enough time on it as it was starting to rain and wind gusts were in the 40-50mph range. I did notice that it seemed like it was kinda falling on its face in 2nd gear. I had an 01 GSXR600 a little while ago so i might be used to the inline 4. Tell me what you guys think. OBTW i did have a blast a while ago so i know how a thumper feels when riding it lol

Rino, glad to hear you enjoyed the test ride! There are a couple things that can be done to take care of what you experienced in 2'nd gear. Search for "noid" and airbox cover. These are a couple EPA items that cause issues. I see that you are from Ohio? Not sure what dealer you are working with but you may want to check out Southeast Harley I got my 1125R from them for $7995. Southeast is getting out of the Buell line and want to clear inventory. If they have any left it may be worth it.

F&S is great. They are a dealer that knows technical stuff well and racing. They are famous in dirt track racing world. You can't go wrong with them.

Aces & Eights has 4 left over 08's that they say they will let go at cost. Might be worth checking out. I got my 08 from them last year and love it.

I have a really bad shoulder. I tore it out snowboarding a couple years ago, and more than a few times since. It dislocates if I roll over wrong in my sleep.

The R is just fine on my shoulder, Fres

Ken, look at the bright side -
You should be able to escape a straight-jacket.
As a Bueller, that's a feat not to be trivialized.

BuellRandy

What company do you have your insurance with? I am going threw Dairyland (harleys insurance) And mines is 180 a month. I have 2 tickets on my record also. One of my tickets have dropped off though, so when I renew it in June, I plan to have much lower rates. I will be 29 by then.

Rockstar, Their finance guy is the one who told me they were getting out of the Buell line. I had already bought the bike when he mentioned it so it was not to try and sell me the bike. Not trying to ruffle feathers just stating what they told me. At any rate I love the bike!

I stopped at Aces& Eights in Mason OH yesterday. They have 4 2008 1125r's left. Ask for Bobby, he says he will give you a deal you can't walk away from.

check with ryders insurance they dont consider a 1125r a sport bike for some reason and they offer great coverage.

The R will not be good for your shoulder...

BS.

If you're riding around and you're feeling pressure on your shoulders, arms, elbows, wrists or hands, you're not doing it right. The core muscles of your torso and believe it or not your leg muscles should be doing most of the work supporting you.

I was referring to having to hold on due to the torque of the R. Thanks for the riding tips though.

Insurance: Talk to your salesman about Harley Davidson Insurance. Harley doesn't actually supply insurance, they just call around for you and find the cheapest of 15ish different companies. I was 21 when I bought this bike with a ticket or two. Progressive wanted me to pay 6k a year. That is why I will never use progressive again. They can't insure me when I need it at a younger age, forget giving them my business when I am older. That aside, the HD guys found me one I could afford at 1.5k (not great, but it was only way I could get 'er). I called back the next year and they found me one cheaper than that. I'd suggest giving them a call and hearing them out. Its relatively fast and they can give you the quotes of a bunch of companies instantly.

Actually, you don't have to talk to the sales guy. Here's the number (800)832-4449. And don't bump this for 'advertising'. Its like posting a link to www.harley-davidson.com.

My current provider is SafeCo through HD.

How was I supposed to know that??? Most people think sportbikes are uncomfortable for the upper body. I was correcting a common misconsecption. Never heard your little line before.
