Am I nuts or is it amazing how many "race" parts they have for that bike? I know I know this is a Buell site, I just LOVE this bike so much and I wish the same was avail. for us. They even have an Akra. pipe for their "factory" race exhaust. No race license needed. Not knocking Buell, hell this is my second Buell. Love everything about the bike. Just saying a silent wish every night that we will get the same as the other manufacturers. No, im not talking just exhaust or ECM's but all the other billet parts/extras are unreal for the KTM. Though I personally think its ugly as sin (even next to our pods).... Please, please, please Buell throw us normal non-racers some trick stuff to show off. Maybe something pretty? Nick |

A true enthusiast appreciates all bikes that are well done. The RC8 is one clean well thought out machine. |

Oh definitely, the RC8 was very well done, just like the 1098R and RSV1000R are both great VTwin superbikes. Hell, I love riding w/ the local guys to me w/ the TL1000R and RC51. Something about Vtwins. The RC8 is just not as pleasing to my eye as the others. Nick |

I was at a Sport Bike course today and an airman rolled in ona Triumph Daytona 675. The bike looks amazing, I was going over it for a while drooling. Very sleek looking piece of work. Course he did the same with mine and we had a blast riding all day. I agree that a true enthusiast appreciates an assortment of bikes. My pride lies within Buell, but like marriage, you can look, just don't touch! lol |

The RC8 is pretty. I don't think I would ever spend $20K for one though. |

. . . Buell has 20 different shirts to pick from. . . . and a complete catalog of accessories with nearly 500 performance parts in the works for the 1125R. |

A lot of the Buell stuff is making it's way out . . . great example is the race exhaust. Make no mistake. . . . when Platform Director Steve Anderson talked about all the performance parts at the 25th Anniversary banquet is was talking about "race parts". These are not "street performance" parts but genuine (i.e. great for the track, would suck for the street) RACE parts. But I think if you go through even the Buell online catalog on the Buell website that you'll find hundreds of accessories . . so far, I've had no trouble finding things from luggage, under-seat bags, bar bags, mirrors, Zumo 550 and so forth to spend Ulysses money on. In addition, we kind of have an "in" with the parts and accessories folks and if there is something you'd like to see added they are always willing to listen. Rare for a motorcycle company. Court |

I would love to see a "street" series exhaust, maybe if possible a gearing change w/ different size front/rear pulley, performance covers, maybe a clutch/primary cover w/ some beef on them as performance parts.... How about a trick kit which changes the outside running lights to blinkers and uses bar/end mirrors... I have not seen the "racing" catalog avail. for the 1125R Court. Any number of resevoir covers in billet aluminum from the factory would be really trick instead of the plastic oems. Even grip-skins for the tank would probably sell well w/ Buell Racing on them. Maybe I'm just drinking it all in w/ Buells racing of late... Im just very excited for the brand in general. Ive only owned Buells in my short riding career. Yes, will the purists laugh at some of this stuff? of course... I'm thinking long term that this is what some crossover riders from the other Twin camps will be used to seeing and might help coax them into this lifestyle. Yes, I say lifestyle b/c I think Buell is alot like Ducati where the owners are damn proud of their machines. We would be hard pressed to just sell it to buy a duc or ape unlike some other manufacturers where the owners just look for the next rocket. BadWeb has taught me alot over the last few years, and one thing still remains... there is NOTHING to me like my Buell. Thanks Court Nick |

I think a look at a Ducati Performance catalog might be a good start. How 'bout some billet rearsets w/solid mount pegs and a heelguard that keeps my heels from scuffing the swingarm? Higher comp pistons, Ti rods, exhausts, different cams, etc. I know it's probably hard in the current economic climate to even think about this stuff, but I do think there is a market for it. Plus, dealers might like it because Joe Buyer might add some of that stuff to his bike before he even rides off on it. I know at my local Ducati store it is common for the bikes to be outfitted with thousands of dollars of DP stuff before they've ever turned a wheel. |

I never even thought about that part of it, I know the Duc dealership near me does the same thing. Bikes all done up at the dealership, and they offer dyno services to chart the changes.... I was just thinking of catalog purchases, the dealerships would probably love to see more people/the same people coming through the doors for some performance goodies. |

Thanks, Pariah, but I want actual race-type non-folding footpeg rearsets with slightly longer or differently shaped heelguards. Woodcraft-CFM is the only company I know of working on some but they haven't been released yet. Maybe if enough people email them they'll start selling them! |

I hope Woodcraft isn't waiting for a test bike... I'm about 45 minutes away from them. Hell, if they are willing to do some measuring I would be willing to let them at my bike, they make some NIIIICE stuff |

Well Court, I guess I'll have to remove them from my TL1000S. And FZR400. Good thing I'm selling the LSL's off my old XB9. I'd hate to be a law breaker. Once you use solid mount pegs, you'll never go back. Fold-ups are for the birds. |

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards .. yep. For an aftermarket outfit . . . with a net worth that consists of the equity in their Ford Focus . . . cool! Your family goes to sue them, you get your $40 judgement and life goes on. But . . . would you take that risk if there were a $100,000 per unit manufactured and you had a net worth of $2,000,000,000? It's simple sense really. Sacrast away . . . . Buell would be foolish offer something illegal. I'm not saying you shouldn't use them . . . but you are doing so at YORU risk . . not Buells. Frankly the loads I fire in my .357 would never be made by a manufacturer either . . . I could care less.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's so awesome about solid mount footpegs? More ground clearance? Better feel? |

Hey Court - sorry my attempt at humor was taken as rudeness. I guess my point should have been that I wish Buell would offer aftermarket accessories a la DP, and they should consider products like billet rearsets. DP has offered them for years for pretty much all of their bikes, legal or not. |

Hey Pariah - they usually have better ground clearance, sometimes offer adjustable footpeg positions to customize your fit (up/down/back/forth), and, most importantly, they can serve as a crash protector. As for improving 'feel', I think they definitely do, but it might be all in my head! |

Thanks, John, I'll definitely look into... I already like the whole look of them. Crash protection is a big plus in my mind, as long as they provide some "give" like the regular footpegs (which they appear to with a Delrin-ish tip). |

How long has the RC8 been out in urup? I read last year that it has been out there for a few years. This is probably why there are a lot more parts out for it. Maybe it has to do with getting it DOT approved in the US. |

The RC8 has been around for less time than the 1125 in the UK. It's also had some fairly alarming teething problems. My mate has one - and yes it is an awsome machine - but so is my 1125 and I wouldn't swap. |

Not sure if this matters to you all or not but the thing about Buell is that they seem to need fewer changes to be good to go off the showroom floor. I like that about Buell, and I have noticed that the bikes with a lot of offered accessories tend to need more than my 12R...which only really needed some sliders, a SpecialOPS pipe, and levers. There are other things that I have done (lose the decals, relocate the plate, etc) or want to do (new mirrors, blinkers, etc) but as it stands this is a bike I love riding as it is...and I could have done without the pipe, even though I love that thing so damn much! Seems like the priority at Buell is putting out quality bikes, not making a big catalog of parts and bling. Maybe that isn't the way to make the most money or attract a huge following but that makes them the kind of company I want to do business with. They could work on providing a better partnership with dealers for those aftermarket parts but that is as much a problem caused by sharing space HD...not really Buell's issue so much as a mothership issue. ...though they could fix my headlights at some point... -d |

"the RC8 is the bike buell should have made instead of the 1125r,imagine the RC8 with ally fuell in frame and ztl brake," I wholeheartedly disagree. Rode the 1125R at Barber for the dealer intro, it absolutely COOKS on full burn. I can see why it's competitive even being virtually bone-stock. On the flip-side, streetability is there in spades as well- rode the 09 CR around town on a long lunch hour once and really liked its willingness to do ANYTHING I wished. (Legal or not so much...) OTOH, rode the RC8 at TWO last October. Granted, the demo run to the firehouse won't do a bike of that caliber justice, never got out of 3rd, but the throttle was quite jiggy, ergos were a little harsh, overall just didn't feel like the WHOLE package of the Buell. Very different machines. The 1125's slogan "built from the rider down" makes a lot of sense to me. Loved the Buell, danced with the KTM, she stepped on my toes more than I'd expect, especially given the price difference. Still an impressive machine, but I'd pick the Buell hands down. |
