My buddy owns an Irish Pub in town and his family sends him MCN from Ireland(motorcycle news) it literally looks like a newspaper, anyway, great mag, but in the issue date March 6th I believe, they show the patent drawings that were filed for the dirt bike, I am sure most of you have seen them, but I had not. The engine was supposedly from the DS 450 Can Am makes, Rotax, Aprilia heads, I know that engine well and it is very freakin fast. Anyway, if you haven't seen the drawings or read about what was filed for patents and so on and so forth, as I hadn't, there it is for you in black and white. Cheers. |

Buell better not screw its homeland over and sell a bike overseas only!!! Talk about a slap in the face!!!! |

Buell wouldn't do that to America. There not like Ford who gives Europe and Mexico nicer versions of cars than America. |

Come on, do you really think Ford or anybody else for that matter WANTS to deny us anything that could make them a profit? I'll grant you that sometimes the marketing guys get it wrong (HD XR1200). Govt regulations have a lot to do with it. Over 50% of the cars sold in Europe are diesels but only a fraction here. Why is that? You can make an ATV street legal in some places over there but not here. Is that Polaris's or CanAm's fault? |

Yes. Europe and Mexico get much more options in terms of cars, and HID lights are usually stock. Turbo Focus? Not for America, but Mexico?!?! Maybe I'm biased as an American Focus owner/enthusiast So whats the specs on the Buell motard? Blast engine? A whole new engine? |

Over 50% of the cars sold in Europe are diesels but only a fraction here. Why is that? I would be driving one now (09 Jetta TDI) if the dealer had not added $4385 to the bottom line as additional profit for his dealership. Husky |

Isn't that the 2010 Fusion? No, it's the current Ford Mondeo available in Europe since 2006. We get an uglified Modeo four years after Europe gets the Mondeo. |

Ft_ that looks like the rear end of a car. Remember the v10 engine in the dodge ram? You could not get it with a short bed unless you were in Mexico. |

Come on, do you really think Ford or anybody else for that matter WANTS to deny us anything that could make them a profit? Was that a sarcastic statement? How about the Euro only Ford Fiesta that gets 80mpg AND looks good?

You mean the Euro only model that will not pass American crash or emissions standards? Oh and that "80mpg" is 60 after converting to US gallons. Also, it is coming here in about a year, but without the large selection of engines or the "80mpg" diesel. |

Euro only model that will not pass American crash or emissions standards? I thought TUV standards were stricter then US? Man, it is getting REAL hard these days to find something that ISN'T the government's fault. |

Not that they are stricter, but different. There is a regulation for everything these days, for example you can't get factory navigation in the Pontiac G8 because the screen is about 1" too low. |

Ourdee... the v10 was offered in the SRT10 Rams, short beds, 2wd only. Last I heard, we're getting two engines in the Fiesta. A gas 4 cyl and a 60mpg deisel. It's still off some so I'm sure anything can happen. |

hey, isn't the mondeo pretty much just a rebadged volvo? my understanding is that ford kept much of the manufacturing facilities after selling off volvo. i know that in the latter years, several volvo and range rover models were 'enhanced' ford models (rebadged, improved suspension, etc.) |

Thump, At the time I was shopping it wasn't available in the US. So, I quit looking at them. The Caliber was made with the VW diesel in it but an agreement with vw would not let them be sold in the US. |

Which is a pity, as the engine Chrysler chose for the US Caliber is woefully insufficient. That was the most gutless car I've ever driven, AND it got lousy milage--a true engineering marvel! On the plus side, my wife walked away with only minor injuries when it got totaled. Great crumple zones, great airbags. The Top Gear guys seemed to like the new Fiesta quite a bit. Hopefully the US version won't be over-neutered. |

I browsed the MCN website http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/ but I could not find back issues or anything on it, I would assume you could buy them, but instead I am going to borrow it and take it to work and scan it in and then post the article. That is about the best I can do...but the bike does look cool and that engine will get with it, so if they intend to build it, I for one would be interested in it, especially if they do a street legal supermoto, I have a CRF 450R I ride every sunday in Croom, here in florida, and I think that DS450 engine would have no trouble matching HP with it, suspension and frame rigidity along with the weight would then be a factor, the way it looks like they designed the dirt bike is like the XB, fuel in the frame, and it looks like my CRF in the styling of it as the frame curves down in the back in the same manner, the airbox is up front and on the right and the engine is suspended with a support bar coming down from the neck. Like I said with the right suspension and geometry this could be the first American bike that would have a shot at real racing on the dirt. There is of course the old cannondale bikes, very fast but heavy, and also ATK, but I have never seen anyone actually race that bike past hare scrambles. This one has the potential with that motor to race supercross, the motor is that good. Alright, I will post it monday from work, ya'll have a good weekend, I am going to be on my Harley and my Honda the rest of this one so I won't be on here......later. Seen one of these then? This is a Focus C-Max, mini mpv, seats 4/5, nicely made (in germany), quiet, comfortable, & as this is the Ghia version very well equipped. multi split rear seat, dual zone auto aircon, rain sensing wipers etc etc. Got a choice of lumps available, this one has the 90hp 1.6 tdci which get's about 40 m per usg; on day to day running. There's also a 110 horse version available, or you can go to the 2.0tdci 136hp flier. There's gas engines available too. Bombshell time, it's a Peugeot engine! Ford & PSA have been trading engines for some time now. A mate in the UK has had a couple of Mondeos & now has the new one with the 2.2 twin turbo diesel, again it's a Peugeot lump, he reckons it's the best car he's ever had. Other side of the coin is that most of the big Peugeots & Citroens use the 2.7 V6 twin turbo d, made by Ford. In itself a blinding motor, used in Landrovers & Jags too. They're all in each others pockets all the time. Peugeot & Citroen now both sell a 4x4, but all it is is a relooked, Mitsubishi Outlander. The Auto business is one of the most incestuous. |
