I just picked up an S3. There is a lock cylinder in the back body work but nothing inside other than a fair amount of space in front of the tail light. What parts am I missing? The bike has a new belt on it put on by a Harley Dealer when the rear isos were done. Found it guitar string tight and corrected it before the bearing in Mainshaft 5th had a chance to escape. |

The lock cylinder is for the seat. There is a little compartment under the tail in front of the tail lamp. |

>>>What parts am I missing? Nothing . . . . what you are looking at is called a "void". I used to wad up my nylon jacket and stick it in there. The underseat bag is an option but it lies under the seat not in the "void". |

My 2001 S3T has a zippered nylon bag with a blue Buell logo under the seat. It is held in place with a velcro strip and extends back into the void. It holds my tool kit and registration paperwork nicely. |

The bag is tapered in height front to back with the larger back end fitting into and filling the "void" on my '01 T. (Message edited by jramsey on March 27, 2009) |

This is what's there from the factory . . . . There is an optional underseat bag that (at least the one I have for an S2 is) is a long skinny affair. I always use an Aerostich Fleece Drawstring (handiest thing in the world and I keep about a dozen in different sizes around) bag in the "void". |

+1 on that. A bag of the right size will keep your stuff from moving around and blocking the swing of the seat lock tang. (guess how I know that) |

See if this helps. Where the hell does Court come up with this stuff? ? ?

Thanks guys. I am missing the lock tang and the nut which should be no big deal to replace. I put my flat repair kit, LED flashlight and a tire pressure gauge in there. Court, thanks for the info on the bags. I like the one that fits underneath. I'm not used to having any storage since my first Buell is my S1 and there is no way I'm strapping anything on top of my 2 paycheck paint job! |

Take a look at THESE . . handiest thing you can have for storage. Stops rattling, adds protection. I have them in a variety of size to carry everything from first aid suppliers to my laptop. The Tang and Nut should be no problem. Item #8 (above) = P/N 52317-98T - SEAT LOCK TANG Item #6(above) = These are COMPLETE (i.e. forks, ignition, seat and saddle bag) LOCK SETS with new barrels and keys - not what you want/need. |

Court, Thanks very much. I just changed the Ignition switch so I'll repair the rear lock so I don't have a third key. The ignition went bad last year and was the reason the previous owner parked the bike. Great for me though. |

I believe on certain years the fairing bags and the under-seat bags came standard on the S3Ts but not on the S3s -- |
