though i do agree with some of your counter points, the fairing is still a bit too wide. I would like to see it cut down a bit at the hands.. i mean sure it does help when fighting cold weather from beating down on your hands, but in the race world I dont think you need it to be that wide specifically there.
Im predicting that the future buell models will progress go down in size, and when that happens, all that wasted umbrella energy will throw buell to the top... the grand scheme of buell  |

Narrower at the hands means more hand, arm, and handle bar in the air flow.
All of these hare FAR more drag than the front fairing.
Additionally, this is exactly where you don't want buffeting causing fatigue.
I wouldn't expect anything to happen to the shape of the fairing anytime soon. It's purpose built, and if it could have been narrower and accomplished the same aims, it would have been designed that way.
It's ok to admit you just don't like the aesthetics of it. |
