I'm looking for the 8 pistons caliper to upgrade my front brakes and I came to HD today to ask about prices. It came up that the '08 model was discontinued (probably due to a recall), the '09 is still not available as spare part. Anyone knows the story? |

Hmmm...the fact that the entire front caliper is discontinued due to a recall can't be a good thing. |

they are just upgrading or something. there is a new part number for it. from what i see the old part can still be had though if you dont want to wait until the new one is available. the master cylinder is pending obsolete also, but is still available. and a few places have one. brake lines are still available. |

Yay, they do this right after I put one on my bike! Perhaps a 10 piston model is coming out? |

no_rice, the '08 part number shows obsolete and gives you a new part number. searching with the new part number, it shows no availability for now, but in the future. it means that an upgraded part will be released. my question is: why? why such a new caliper will be released with an upgrade? I don't need the whole kit since I'm running a 16mm radial master cylinder on my bike already, when the 1125 has a 14mm non radial. so more than enough for the new caliper. I also have new custom brake lines and I have enough length for the ZTL2. I just need the caliper but it seems not a good idea to buy it now since something new will come out soon. I heard by the way, that a ZTL3 is in project and will probably debut on the new bike, the 1190RR (?) that should be the displacement for the bike that most likely will race in the superbike???? |

No its got to be the 2250cc V4, that way they can really own the 600cc bikes! Not only does it have Fuel in Frame, its got Fuel in Fork and Fuel in Fairings. Got to feed that beast somehow |

The Calipers come "loaded" with pads. the new ones all come with the latest compound. Early compound pads are avail if you buy pads only. |

Froggy, we'll see in the future if I was told lies or something serious! the person who told me so, normally never say lies, so it might be most likely true.... |

Just got my ZTL2 in today!!!! from an 09 model. Can't wait to put her on my 03 XB9S! but I can't decide on leaving it red and seeing how well it goes with my blue plastics, silver frame/swingarm/forks and pretty much blacked out everything else.... |

after looking online, it looks like red is only available on the CR's...... all others are black. Which is what I think I would much rather have........... but its an 09 part...so they have to be available by themselves somewhere! (bought mine from a fellow bueller on here, ands its brand new) |

Froggy: what is that color scheme on the fork protector? It's playing tricks on my mind!! I have the same red caliper on my '04 and I love it! Took me forever to get pressure to build up in the system when I installed it though. Prior to reaching that point, I was worried that I had gotten a bum MC. |
