Dan just finished changing his tires and boy, did that tire balancer work great. He finally got to use his Christmas present. As soon as my front tire gets delivered he'll get to do it all over again (already have the back one) |

Zac, can you get this part number? Kent-Moore tool # HD-45206. If you cannot get it can you ask the mechanics where would be a good place to get one? It is the mainshaft seal install tool. I also need two of part number 35151-74 which is the seal itself. For 96 S2-T. Frank |

E-mail me at work, Frank. Anything from K-M is probably protected. Jim's may make an equivalent, that's what I'll look for. Your decals shipped today. Z |

Figured as much, damn it. I tired checking Jims web site with no luck. I will search again tomorrow. If your mechanics have a source that would be cool to. I will shoot you an email tomorrow. Frank |

I found the Jims tool number. It does not look like you can order from their web site. I checked J&P cycles but they do not have it. I will check again tomorrow... Frank |

Thanks Zac, for your help today in making my baby Blue. Am looking forward to giving her a new look. Just got back from a short ride and it was just beautiful out there. Went to our favorite ice cream shop in Palmer Lake. Hope to be going out for another ride tomorrow. Hey Jody, look forward to seeing you on Tues. I just can't talk Dan into letting me ride down there, BUMMER. |

Jammer, I will be coming your way on Saturday to get the 1K service on the Uly and to talk to your Techs on the gas dripping issue. I believe the bike is running lean (by the pipe color) and by running lean the motor runs hotter. I think this is the root case of the issue. With the bike running lean and building up more heat, once the motor is turned off and the fan stops the heat is still there and heating the gas tank and building up pressure. Once the pressure is built up it vents it through the pressure vent valve down the drain tube on the floor. It does not leak while riding (I tested this with a bottle on the vent hose). The fuel pump is equalizing the pressure. The air cooled motor is being cooled. It leaks more with less gas in the tank because it is easier to heat and expand less vs more fuel. It does not leak right after a ride, it does after 15 to 20 minutes. It takes time for it to build up pressure from the heat. I will let the Tech make the call on what to do. I think I will run syn oil in an attempt to cool down the operating temp. I am positive the gas is not boiling although with the gas venting through the valve it does sound like it. I have replaced the vent pressure valve and do not think that is the problem. I do believe that lowering the temp build up by as little as 10 degrees may help. Frank |

Wow Frank...you have put a lot of thought into this issue. Based on the fact that my garage smells like gasoline for a few hours after coming back from a ride (with the door shut)...I think that mine does the same thing as your bike does. I guess I always thought that it was normal. If you find a fix, be sure to let me know. |

Steve, I do not think it is normal. My XB12R never did that. It is probably a combination of things one being altitude. I talked with Zac a couple of days ago and he informed me that the gas we buy is different in the winter so that may have something to do with it as well. One other thing that has always bothered me about the Uly is how hard it is to start on cold days. It surges a lot until it is warm which is what got me thinking about the lean condition. I have confidence in the service techs at HCHD which is why I am having the dealership do the 1K. I will post what they say. I will wait up there for them to finish the service if you are in the area stop by. I will leave the house between 8 and 9 and should be up there around 10 to 11. Farkels to date: VHF/UHF Amateur Radio Antenna PA System Signal Dynamics voltage indicator Outdoorsman bags Tool Tube Darkhorse moto temp gauge Sliders Quest II Gps PIAA 510s came yesterday and I will wire them today and may do the headlight (low/high beam) mod as well. These damn bikes are expensive. |

"These damn bikes are expensive. " Don't I know what you mean by that! It is not the bike...it is how much fun they are to personalize!!! I think when you do the switch to Syn3 you will see an improvement in your cold starting. Back when I was messing around with ECMSPY a lot, I tried to use the 'ole 850 RPM idle that many raved about...and in cold mornings, or evening on my way home from work, the bike would be hard to start and even backfire on me. So I am back to a 1050 RPM idle guy. I have had my PIAA's off for a while now, waiting for the time to do a little better wiring configuration. I still don't have the time (with the house project) but I really am getting to itch to add them again. I really like the looks of the 510's on a Uly. The time spent building the house will be worth it though...it will have a "man-space" (sorry Julie) in the walkout basement just for my motorcycle hobby (17' x 30' with garage door). I'll have to have the local Buell folks over sometime this summer after we move in. |

Oh, no need to appoligize Steve. When we were building out our downstairs the family room/kitchette had to be smaller cause Dan needed his man space. He has about 550 sq ft and believe me, it's full of man stuff. He loves it. If we could afford it, we'd build a BIG out building just for his man stuff. Yeah and talk about spending $$ on our bikes. I'm changing my colors and Dan's getting new amber wheels. New spring colors |

Frank, I tried ribbing you a bit here in the CBR forum but it didn't work! Darned. In that thread about tragic farkle addiction the fourth picture should be titled "Frank and Lynn", complete with a cigarette. PS: Plan to change my oil tomorrow morning. |

Ok Jody, 0903 it is. I motored up to HCHD to have the 1K done. They could not help with the gas drip but I did not expect them to. I am thinking there is no way to adjust the lean condition without a remap. Hopefully ECMSpy will be modified to work with the 08 and 09 bikes some day. It was a good day talking to Bones, Dave and Zac. An unexpected surprise was meeting Don Casto. He came in from Boulder and we talked the whole time. In fact I was going to look around for some odds and ends but did not have a chance. I took the long way home taking 52 then south on 679 (I think) then hit I70 to Limon and 24 into Colorado Springs then south to Fountain. About 350 miles today. I wanted to get some seat time in the Uly. It is a better highway bike than the 95 S2 and of course the 98 S1W but not as good as the 96 S2-T. I got beat up from the wind pretty good. The Uly does not like crosswinds. The Uly in Limon
A 96 S2-T at HCHD. Dave, Don and myself descended on the young owner and probably scared the crap out of him. Nice guy with a classic bike. I am hoping he gets on the BadWeb.
When I arrived there was a young guy on a X1W (Red stripe) and a M2 that came in. Jammer had me laughing with his ever vigilant eye and camera making sure to take pics of all the Buells that came in. |

oh Yeah!!!!definitely a great ride today. It was nice getting out of Fragle Rock. Lots of fun riding with fellow Buellers, including our token Busa. Nice meeting Mike, Michael and Nathan. Oh, and of course riding with you, John, is always a pleasure. On the way home South Turkey Creek was clean, Deer Creek wasn't too bad. Sand in a few of the corners so definitely had to take it easy. We did just under 160 miles. The wind on the way home was incredible, hard to keep the bikes upright.

Nice pictures Julie & Dan. Thanks again for a fun ride. How about Michael on his Aprilia doing the fly by. I see the club is going to Deckers today. Twice in 5 days is enough for me. Doing a long bicycle ride today. |

Jody came over to change his oil.
I noticed something missing from his bike.
I found this in my garage and decided to sell it.
Jody bought it.
After the oil change we did a quick run up to Deckers and ran into the Denver crowd. Check out Bob's Uly.

Frank, Isn't that a neat Uly? He did a great job with it especially with the lightning long rear on it. How about the rear hidden caliber. He can change the rear back to stock in less than a half an hour he told me. Did you ride back with him and nathan to the springs? JC |

No, J2blue and I decided to eat. It was my first meal of the day LOL. Bob did a great job with that bike. There were so many things he had done that I probably missed have of what he did. Hope you had a good bicycle ride. I think Bob was surprised to see me pull up on a Uly LOL. His Uly was the first I ever sat on. Funny how it grew on me. Of course it looked nothing like it does now. |

hey... does anyone in/near Denver have a Select seat? i'd like to try one out before shelling out $200 for one. if we meet up on a ride, or something, maybe we could exchange seats for a few miles? ...just a thought. |

Yeah Julie, last weekend was perfect! Now we need to get ready to shovel snow. I doubt this weekend will be good for riding...kind of like a mini winter to finish up any last minute projects on the bikes. Can't wait to see the color transformation on your bike. |
