At highway speeds, its right on. In traffic or at idle it runs a little warm. Heck, in traffic I AM a little warm on the bike, the thermometer should not be exempt. I love riding through a cool countryside valley, feeling that chilled air, and watching the gauge drop a few degrees instantly. |

The Ambient temp sensor is in the snorkel of the air intake, I believe. This means that it reads the ambient temp in front of the engine. Mike |

Useless info much of the time, obviously depending on where you tend to ride. At speed it's close, but on the street it's way off. I don't understand why Buell matched up AT with the Gear indicator. Whoever did that should be fired... CT + Gear Instant mileage + Voltage AT + Avg Mileage Screen brightnes should be moved to the internal setup....it's cumbersome to have on the main menu. I haven't changed it yet. |

It's actually Intake Air Temp, considering where the sensor is located. ECM sets maps accordingly... My preference for the display would be to have a way to set the menus to MY preference. Just put a USB connector on the IC and supply a simple app in Windoze and let each owner set his configurations. Maybe Dave can find a way... Z |

It makes sense that they would stick the temp sensor in the intake. Most auto makers do so to provide the ECM a relevant numerical value of the intake air temperature. However; I am not to familiar with the Buell ECMs so I don't know if it's even valid. Mine does the same, and I know that when I am sitting still idling, and I see it rise it is certainly due to heat soaking. But when I am moving it seems to work just fine. Anyone know if the ECM references the IAT for the fuel/spark maps? Or is it just a fancy add on? |
