After looking at all of the aftermarket options and custom-made license plate tidies, I decided to try making one myself. I'm very pleased with the end result! The pictures pretty much show how I went about making it, but feel free to ask if you have any questions. Tell me what you think too

Thanks a lot! It took up about 3 days of my Spring break, but I think it was worth it. In case you can't tell from the second picture, I had to make two because the first one didn't fit right. I kept the template from the second one just in case I ever need to make another one. |

Sleez, I was a little worried about that too, but after welding the turn signal tabs it made it pretty sturdy. I'll certainly keep an eye on it though. Thanks for the compliment too. |

It really isn't as flimsy as you think. Like I said, those welds really help to keep it from going anywhere. Plus, it's just aluminum so it's not like there is much weight to be supported. As for making another, I'm off at college and won't be home again until May. If you're seriously interested, I'll keep it in mind and let you know when that time rolls around. Just let me know. |

Any chance we can get a blueprint for our own tidytail? |

Hey Pittsburgh_guy, not to go off-topic, but where are you located? I'm north of the city in Chippewa (Beaver Falls), and work in Moon Township. Also...Welcome to BadWeb! |

Pittsburgh_guy, What exactly are you looking for? The best I have is what you see in pic 2, which is just a cardboard cut-out that I put together. Scubarc51, Sweet! Please do post up your project. |

Haha! Actually, I made it while I was home in South Florida (Okeechobee). I found that sign in our scrap metal pile. My guess is that it made it there after all of the hurricanes came through in 2005. Many street signs turned up "missing" that year Anyway, thanks a lot for the compliment! |

That's great if you don't want anyone to notice your turn signals. I am not preaching here, but I am shocked at how many of us are willing to trade off safety for style. Is it not dangerous enough simply riding a bike WITH proper turn signals? |

Fresno, I hear what you are saying. If you look at the second picture from the bottom, they are pretty visible IMO. Also, I constantly check my mirrors and quite often use hand signals while turning. I personally think that it's no different than running a taillight with integrated signals. Once again, that is just my outlook on things. I also joke that if you go fast enough nobody will be behind you when you turn. I'm just kidding, so please don't flame me! |

You are correct that the integrated turn signals not being much better. Maybe 86 those license plate lights so your turn signals aren't lost in those? I am sensitive to the issue as my buddy had rear turn signals the size of a nickel. I had a hard time seeing them and I knew they existed. After he had a couple close calls, my opinion was confirmed. Thankfully, He has since gotten rid of the Busa. |

Actually, those are just reflectors. They showed up like that in the pic because of the flash. It's pretty clear that this is something you feel strongly about. In the unlikely event that we ever ride together, I'll make sure to let you lead so you don't have to worry about my hazardous turn signals |

No problem. As usual, it's hard to tell reading typed words. Your tailpiece is a nice effort. Ride safe. |

After posting it, I realized that it didn't come out the way I had intended. My apologies. Anyway, thank you for the compliment and I'll certainly ride safely. You do the same, Fresno. |

its just a piece of 26ga metal shaped to fit the hole. the plate mount is just a cheap plate holder, it did have mounts for turn signals but i cut them off. im waiting for my integrated tail light to come in to finish it off. will se if i need to add signals or not. the holes underneath lined up perfect with the plate holder. |

Scubarc51, Looks pretty good, man. Out of curiosity, do you plan on cutting out the undertail beneath the taillight? I had to do that so my tag could be seen at night. |

If you have light shining down, take a Dremel to the plastic shell. Locate the plate so the light hits it. Nice work both of you. My turn signals and brake light in the one Robert(XBLights) made me are extremely bright.
His work is an order of magnitude over any other LED set I've seen. Z |

I can certainly do that for you. Unfortunately, it will have to wait until May because I'm off at college and the cutout is back home in Florida. As long as you don't mind waiting I'd be more than happy to send it to you. I must warn you though, that it's not exactly perfect. I had to make some minor adjustments with a grinder and Dremel in order for it to fit properly. Anyway, just let me know what you want me to do. |

Christiankid3, Not a problem, I'll wait till may. That would probably be the first chance I would have to dedicate the time to it anyways. My HMF exhaust and protune 3 is going to be here this week and I'll be working with that for awhile. Thanks, |
