I just installed The Buell Traction grips on my 2008 1125r. When I twist the throttle it seems to make kind of a grating sound, like the cable is rubbing against something and it takes longer than normal to snap back to the idle position. I tried lubing the cable and the tube, didnt work. Took it apart a couple times and each time the same result. Did I do something wrong?

is the inside of the grip rubbing the switch housing? did you remove enough material to clear the factory bar end cap?

Something is rubbing - not cables

Use a critical eye and methodically turn the throttle and look to see where it is binding

Ya?

I just pulled those plastic end caps right off.

i just did this and had no issues, check that you have the "cable guide" lined up right. im talking about the "c" shaped piece of plastic also make sure the throttle cables are in properly and not twisted. and i wouldnt recomend trying to ride till you fix it.. would hate for it to get stuck open!!!

The problem was there was a little plastic flashing still on the grip tube that was catching. A little sandpaper fixed the problem. Thanks guys!

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Seems like it was like that when I got it back from the dealer. I agree, it's not in the cable. I have had a hard time figuring out why too.
