Im looking to put HID's on my firebolt, i was wondering if anyone else has done this? Im running Xenons now and they work a lot better than the stock, i can see 20 feet instead of 5 haha. But ive heard HID's are a heck of a lot better, my buddy runs them on his honda superhawk, and he never seems to have to use his brights. Any opinions? | ||

Quite a few guys here have done this. Damnut I know has for sure. I went the cheap route and bought a second high beam housing. I run the two highbeam housing with hyper white bulbs. Cheap...Easy. use the search...there is some good pics of what you want. | ||

Yes I have them and love em. Most only do the low beam side while I did em both. I suggest getting the 6K with slim ballasts. The slim ballast will fit just above the headlights on the inside of the front fairing. Do a search on here and you will find multiple threads on this subject. | ||

The H.I.D. bulbs while brighter run cooler in the housing which shouldnt deteriorate the housings as badly iether.I did it and love it go with what Damnut said as the space is limited.Once you get them you will never want to go back to normal lights.I had a lexus IS300 in 02 ever since then ive been hooked on H.I.D. lights...Night and day difference. | ||

Thanks for the info, damnut, If you dont mind, could you point me in the right direction to get what im looking for. I could pretty much find anything for cheap on my bike, but HID's are not one of them. The cheapest i have found has been about $600. Maybe thats a reasonable price for them? Well actually, When i was in Daytona, A vendor offered me both kits for $150. Too bad I had no cash. | ||

I bought mine from XenonRider.com. There are lots of different vendors out there and you can find them pretty cheap and also very expensive. I paid ~200 for the pair with slim ballasts. Like I said you can find them cheaper and others on this site have without problem that I know if. I believe that Ebay would be your cheapest place to get them. Let me know if you have any questions. I bought mine (for my bike, car, and a buddies car) from VVME.com. The cars have the standard 35 watt kits, and my bike has the 55 watt kit. All of them 4300k color temperature, as that is the brightest. It's also pure white, with no blue look to it at all. Kit's are not top quality. But for the price they work fine, and cannot be beat! I've bought four kits from them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. The ballasts are the larger size not the smaller size though. It's a good idea to add a delayed (timer) relay to the setup, so the light doesn't blink on when you turn the key, then shut off when you hit the starter, then turn on again. That on/off/on is not good for the ballasts and will cause them to die significantly sooner. The easiest way to add a delay is with a 528T pulse timer (found all over the internet for $10-$20). I just did mine through zenon rider. $100 shipped to my door with slim ballasts. Took me less then an hour to install using a relay and all. Used the 6000k bulb. I went on a 400 mile trip to get Erik Buell to sign my bike last weekend. Got caught in the rain on our way home. My lights were the only ones that got through the rain without throwing glare. By far the best upgrade to do. And as far as going to Flea-bay to get it cheaper..... Why try and save $20 on something like your head light? | ||

So im not sure, the 03 uses H3 correct? and also i have found 3000k color, is that gonna be more white than the 4300k? | ||

Firebolt models use H3, Uly and Lightning models are H7. 4300k is as white as you can get, 3000k is yellow. | ||

I used a kit from xenon depot. It was a bit pricey for just one light, but its made with 6ft of wire from the bulb to the ballast, which is just enough to mount the ballast in between the battery and trunk. This made for a very easy install as there is plenty of room there for a ballast.
