no idea, but shipping would cost more than the part. |

It is a ~$6 part. Unless the cost of shipping isn't a factor because you need it 'right now', it's going to be cheaper for you to pick it up locally. |

what exactly does this do and is it worth purchasing? |

Its a plug in resistor you plug into the harness if you totally remove the solenoid from the bike so it it wont throw a code. IMO its deff. worth the $6 Just take it out and put it in a box with the cable and forget about it. |

Go here & read: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/436455.html Your questions should be answered. Sure would be nice for that 'sticky' about 'noid removal. |

I just did it this past week following the "noidectomy" procedures for full removal by Dr. P. The bike hasn't even noticed it being gone...(no codes,CEL's...nothing)but I sure have noticed the front get awfully light at WOT in 3rd gear... Great narrative for full removal...thanks.

Try a WOT at 4850 rpm in 3rd and you'll see the code. |

Zac is correct. The only way to keep from getting the code/CEL when you are in the correct conditions is via the Race ECM. This is not a 'real' issue, in that the CEL will clear upon the next clean start of the engine. This procedure ONLY takes the solenoid out of the equation in regards to causing a 'failure to accelarate' under the proper conditions. 'SOME' folks have noted improved throttle response and/or more top end (TPS increase from 80% to 100%). I can not attribute that to the noidectomy. My PERSONAL OPINION is that those who experience these side benefits, do so because as a result of their work, as they may have INADVERTENTLY resolved binding/sticking/slightly misrouted throttle cables that were causing the problem(s). Again, this procedure is ONLY to remove the 'failure to accelerate' condition in 3rd gear at ~4,700 rpm when attempting WOT. |

Maybe XB9 will chime in here, but I'm pretty sure his software also gives the ability to turn off the ECM parameter for solenoid activation. |

OK....my question is this...will just installing the restister do it or do i have to mechanically disassemble it also? |

You need to do the actual removal to get any benefit from it, but at a minimum, disconnect the cable that runs from the solenoid to the throttle bodies and plug in the resistor to the wire harness under the seat. |

Weight, possibility of binding the throttle? It's only 2 more screws to remove it completely? (Message edited by d_adams on March 26, 2009) |

JT, take your seat and air box off and look at the "noid". It circles back around the front of the intake from right to left and attaches to the throttle linkage assembly. It's a well designed piece but, when you remove it, you are going to see that it takes literally 2-3 minutes to do once the seat and airbox are off. By removing it you are only really reducing weight and slightly freeing up the throttle linkage assembly from any extra "distractions" which as P-squared said "most riders reported better throttle response and TPS values". So by removing these extra connections you are making the throttle linkage assembly "lighter" so to speak. It's almost the same SIMILAR idea as reducing rotating mass weight by buying lighter wheels. Like a drag car... If you have 25 pound wheels, the rotating mass is up, which in turn reduces your ability to accelerate a given distance than it would if you wheels only weighed say 10 pounds... make sense? Just my thoughts on it, and why I did it. The less crap you have interfering with something, the easier it is to work. It is a simple mod that you can reverse in no time if you don't like it, nothing about it is permanent. Enjoy! |
