Has anyone ran into this problem before and if so what made them go out of round, I got a set at the stealership and they are trying to tell me they are bad and i need to take them back and warranty them. I don't see how this is possible and was looking for some input. | ||

THEY are thin sheet metal squeze them and they are out of round | ||

crap ok oldog that's what i want to know! I was seriously beginning to doubt that they could be out of round. Have you ever hear of them causing a leaking issue? | ||

I pulled a bent pushrod out of one, and the cover is still perfect. Then another set got beat "gently with a large hammer" while I was installing them into the new billet bases, and they're still perfectly round. Is there any valvetrain damage that could have caused the cover to be bent? | ||

No i just removed them to do the base seals and the seals are dry and flush mounted but i am having a leak issue, And the dealer insists i bent them taking them out. but when i took them off i was very careful and i don't see how it could happen | ||

I dont get the leak issues, I have had the boxes and the tubes off before, it seems a little fiddly but not complex, round tubes, get a dial caliper, ( measures in .001" ) and carefuly measure them slight out of round should not be an issue, say .005" [ my guess ] IIRC They seal on orings on top and a rubber seal of some sort on the bottom with the retainer plate to compress the seal and locate the tubes. Yeah i got a set of the billet 1 piece base's and fiddled with them for like 2 hrs and i got them in and flush mounted. The seals didn't roll out and i re-assembled the top end and started the bike and let it run for 10 minutes and revved the motor a little to make sure they were ok and they were fine. The next day i went for a ride and it was ok until about 20 miles in and all of a sudden they started leaking! | ||

Been there, done that. I went to the billet ones too. One trick was to super glue the gaskets in place prior to putting them on the lifter tubes to keep them from rolling. After having the rocker boxes off and on several times, they finally sealed around the tubes, but very quickly another leak appeared from under the billet base. It's just going to leak for the time being because I'm afraid that it will just make it worst to take it apart again and try to seal it. I'm contemplating loosening up the billets slightly squirting some type of sealant. | ||

I am not playing this game again. I am going with the collapsible set zipper's makes. THANKS CREATURE X1 FOR THE HEADS UP! These are much better than the stock or the billet base set that i can see.
