My X1W "destruction" is coming along good for powdercoating. I was reading the service manual and for taking apart/rebuilding the front forks, they say you have to use a special spring compressor tool. Is it really necessary, if yes, is there a place I can purchase one. Thanks for any information. Here is a pic of my poor baby in pieces.

it works well if you have two people, one to hold the spring down, and the other to take it apart, the nut assembly at the top that is. |

If you dont have killer springs you can lever the retainer down and slip the keeper down. I do it with my hands |

Thanks for the information guys. A month ago I reloaded my StreetGlide forks with a lowering kit spring on my own, I can probably do it without the tool on the Buell. Thanks again. |
