I used the magnaflow 11148 muffler. Has a great deep rumble to it. Here are some pics. All I need to finish is the tips so they wont be pointed directly at my tire.

Just wonder what you used to hook the can up to the Header pipes? |

Looks cool. Would curved stainless screw-on muffler/pipe tips be un-cool? The set screws might not be particularly visible. Otherwise,it's cut, weld, grind and polish, isn't it? |

Hogs: I had a jardine on last year and its the pipe from that as well as the fairing brackets. Bitbear: I was thinking about cutting slits in the tip (like the factory muffler) and using some accuseal clamps like i did for the front of the muffler. I'm afraid the screw on ones would just rattle themselves loose all the time. (Message edited by thirty2vsvt on March 16, 2009) |

very cool, so the jardine front pipe works perfectly? good to hear. i wonder if that piece and the brackets are available separately? i'd just have some SS tips welded on. (Message edited by sleez on March 16, 2009) |

I thought your not supposed to have the exhaust dump directly on the tire because it will cause it to dry out? |

I like how u did the tips. I may end up doing the same thing since the kind of tips I'm looking at costs just as much as I paid for the entire muffler. Nice looking bike Big b. |

BIg_B did you also use a cut off muffler of some sort to connect the new muffler to the header pipes? |

No I bought a 2" stainless U bend to make the turn down. And just used straight 2.25" stainless for the tips. I was going to leave the tips bare but decided to paint the whole thing black. I could of gotten out cheaper if I would of just used mild steel bends and pipe, but I don't have to worry about it rusting. |

Bib_b, I like the simplicity of the bolt up bracket you welded on top of the muffler. |

By the way Jardine will sell the bend only. But at $90 I figured I could build one for cheaper than that. |

I thought your not supposed to have the exhaust dump directly on the tire because it will cause it to dry out? ive was waiting for someone to mention the fact that it aims right at the tire with only maybe an inch or 2 in between. all the extra heat in ONE spot when its warming up. but my main problem with that is all the great moisture that gets sprayed right on the cold tire on cool spring and fall mornings. add that to cold roads and it could cause a bit of trouble pretty easily |

http://www.magnaflow.com/ I looked at their website, and read that all their mufflers can be reversed for custom applications. This one backwards (2.25" as input) looks like it would work too, and with it you would only have one output which might be easier to modify or just slip on a tip bend (extra 3" of space to work with). It's three inches shorter than the 11148 as well, but from the looks of your pix, it would still mount with a rear strap and the stock rear bracket. A custom bend would have to be fabricated for header to muffler fitting, but very interesting thought for summer project. Good work on your can!!! Any thoughts on the 11132?

All good posts guys, Wd. sure like to see what some have made up though , to connect the header to these mufflers themselves and not say a cut off from another xb aftermarket muffler though...! |

Just get a U-bend the same diameter as the header, a reducing cone that will fit the muffler and that u bend and a stainless wrap around clamp for the header to u-bend http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS/753274/10002/-1 (they come in straight diameters also) |
