So yeah my 06 Uly has 8500 miles on it and my darn belt decided to break today just as I was accelerating from a stop sign I went to hit second gear only to realize that I lost all power. I immediately looked behind me to see the dang thing laying in the road.... So I figure hey no worries its under warranty and I have the extended warranty with roadside assistance so I will call my dealer to have them take care of the bike and throw a new belt on under warranty. I get ahold of the service department and talk to a gentleman (one that I have done business with many times before) and he tells me that the belts are a normal wear and tear item and that my warranty is useless with the belts. I was really thrown back because I was under the impression that Buell marketed these things as a "lifetime" belt and that warranty should cover them.... So am I a complete idiot in thinking my dealer should have covered this? Or is my dealer slightly confused maybe? Thanks for any insight! |

Its covered by the factory warranty, not the extended warranty. |

Your warranty is two years from the date of purchase. Belts are covered providing the belt guards are in place. Assuming you bought a left-over new 06 in the last 2 years, it should be covered. Otherwise, cough up ~$150 and get the latest, improved belt. |

Hughlysses- Yes I bought a leftover 06 (still have the factory warranty till this August and all of the guards have been always left in place. So I am going to call the dealership back today and hopefully they will change their stance. |

Life Time, when expressed in a warranty, is rarely fully defined. So the debate becomes: is it the "Life Time" of the part (in question) or the complete built unit? |

Chris- Like Court always says, if they still give you grief about it, be positive, hang up, call Buell Customer Service and they will straighten out the situation. |

AND BE POLITE. Yes, I meant to yell that last part. Buell is outstanding when it comes to taking care of their customers...but it never hurts to be nice. |

Yeah most definitely on the "AND BE POLITE" aspect. My dealer has always been decent with me and thats why I was taken back when they said it was a typical wear and tear item not covered under warranty. I am heading over to the dealership this afternoon and I will post after I find out from them what the verdict is. Thanks for the help guys! |

On the 06 and newer there is no replacement schedule like the older belts. |

So my dealer still says "No" on the belt replacement. They are calling Buell Customer Service tomorrow and I am going to as well. I dont understand why I am getting such a run around. If I wasnt so frickin poor I would just buy the darn thing and say to heck with the warranty which I may have to do in the end anyway.... |

Time to find a new dealer IMHO. If I spend my $ on New purchases there, get service done there and THEY don't go to bat for ME, "F" them, I'm walkin'. Cars, Trucks, Bikes, etc.... no matter, you don't value me as a customer I sure as hell don't have a use for you as a dealer. |

Ask your dealership if they have a CO-OP warranty, that way they can take care of a good customer and the mothership pays for it. |
