Just got my first person of interst on buying my 2005 Yamaha R6 Raven. As soon as its sold I am going to be picking up a buell, very quickly hopefully as I cant go a week without riding! I want an XB12Ss. My prefered dealer has one. Its red, I love red, I think I love blue more. Could be a good point to help get the price down but we will see... Anyways I am just wondering what advice you guys have to help me get the best price possible and maybe have some goodies thrown in with the deal. Ill be putting several thousand (6-7 grand) down, and financing the rest. Hoping to get as close to $10,000 OTD as possible. By the way, just saw on craigslist that another dealer was selling a 2009 XB12R for under $10K OTD... Anyways Im excited to sell the R6 (will be sad to see it go) and get a buell (SWEEETTTTT) |

Do the CA guys have to do anything special to their bikes if they buy them outside of state? I was just thinking about their special emissions setup..... ~SM |

$9,965 out the door for my new 2009 XB12Ss that I just drove home Saturday. They started at $11,500 with tax, setup, doc fees, etc... |

Any tips on how to work it that low? Tell them that's what it needs to be for you to take it home. |

10G out the door is outstanding. I'm sure that was very hard to pull. |

Lake Erie Harley, in Avon Ohio. I spent 30 minutes haggling. I said "no" to list plus fees, then no again to their second offer, while I informed them that I had a friend who bought several bikes there. This same friend knew I could get one for less than $10,000 out the door, even if I had to buy it at a different dealership. Their final offer was $10,465 and a $500 Harley gift certificate that I could use as a downpayment on the motorcycle. So, $9,965 out the door. (Message edited by Gazoobla on March 16, 2009) |

Jraice, being a CA resident you cannot buy a NEW bike out of state unless it is the CA version. You can buy a used one that has more than a certain amount of miles. I am trying to look up the exact rules. |

Wasnt sure where to post this but I guess Ill do it here... Some people were telling me to check insurance before getting the bike. Didnt check XB9 but XB12 (through fathers insurance, much cheaper then soly in my name) is $600 a year vs. $420 a year for the R6. Not bad for double the value almost and double the displacement. |

Ah that makes sense... Thanks Froggy. So whats the difference between the link that says I can either e-mail them directly back or PM them? Basically both send them an e-mail... |

A PM will mask the email of the recipient, so when I PM you, you get my email but I don't get yours. I wont get your email till you reply. Works similar to email on Craigslist, it protects the recipient. Also, it prevents spam as a bot can't come in and just suck up your email address and sell it to the highest bidder. |

On the insurance note, i'm 21, 2 motorcycle accidents (just me in the wrecks), 3 speeding tickets, and on my own insurance.....for $300 a year on my '06 XB12R, that's with the court ordered SR-22 i have to have for awhile for my 85 in a 55 speeding ticket. On the cali regs, the bikes sold in cali have to have a carbon canister. Instead of your gas vent tube just going behind your left footpeg and onto the ground, it goes to the carbon canister first to get rid of all the harmful $#!T, then it vents the rest out from there. On the R it is hidden under the rear plastic between the rider and passenger seat. But on the S it is slapped onto the outside of the bike on the left side next to your leg (looks stupid to me). Glad i bought my bike in Iowa and have it registered there, otherwise Cali would have a problem with my bike. YAY FOR IOWA!!! (Message edited by juniorkirk on March 16, 2009) |

You also need the California VIN. Slapping the cannister on isn't enough. |

My wife and I are from the bay area. We just found it easier to move. I do miss home, but not the 8.5% sales tax on vehicles |
